Global warming is one of the most serious issues that the world is facing today.

What are the

causes and what measures can the government and individuals take to tackle the issue?

It is true that global warming is one of the most vexing problems encountered by many parts
of the world. This essay will examine the main causes of this undesired phenomenon and
several remedies that both individuals and the governments can take to alleviate it effectively

Granted, global warming mostly stems from human activities. Chief among them is
widespread deforestation. As human population grows rapidly, so do people’s demands for
real estate and resources. Thus, they have felled an untold number of trees to make way for
agriculture and to build cities, despite numerous benefits trees bring about, ranging from
absorbing harmful carbon dioxide to moderating the Earth’s temperature. Moreover, human
are increasingly burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, which would subsequently emit a
colossal measure of CO2 and other pollutants into the atmosphere. All aforementioned
factors give rise to the uncontrolled concentrations of greenhouse gases that trap the heat in
the ozone layers, and thus cause global warming.

To address the problem of global warming, it inevitably entails actions from both individuals
and the governments. As for the governments, what they should do is to mount and
subsidize campaigns prompting people to plant and preserve trees in their neighbourhoods.
The governments also need to impose a heavy fine on those logging illegally, which serves
as a deterrent for would-be perpetrators and thus protect the forests. As regards ordinary
citizens, in a bid to minimize their contribution to global warming, they ought to use induction
hobs as a substitute for gas hobs that burn fossil fuels to cook food. Clearly, there are
various actions people can take to tackle global warming.

In conclusion, global warming can be ascribed to human activities, including deforestation

and burning fossil fuels excessively. Therefore, it is imperative that a concerted effort be
made between individuals and the governments to mitigate this pressing issue.
