Teaching objectives :

 Demonstrate an understanding of a plot structure

 Use a plot diagram / terminology to present an analysis of the short stories

Stage Activities Students' task

Lead in : Let  Group students in group of three, 5 groups Write down the summary of the
students  Let students watch the video " Lifted " , write at lesson ( 6-7 sentences )
approach to least a 6 sentence summary. Use sequencing words First,
the concept of ( First, then, next..)( 10 minutes ) Then
PLOT  Write down the summary as a class, and teacher Next
gradually will write down the sentences in the white board Note down the students who have
(20 minutes) ( side by side with the slide ) ( 10 minutes ) done a good job to call their name
1. First, In the dead of night, somewhere in the later.
countryside, an alien is trying to abduct/ lift a
sleeping man out of the house under the watchful
eyes of his mentor/ with the supervisor of his
mentor
2. However, there are thousand /many switches he
must use to get the human inside the spaceship and
he is having trouble
3. Then, He flicks the random switches and bumps
the man into the wall and throws him/ bounces him
all over the house .Luckily, the man still keeps
sleeping through it
 4. Eventually, the alien succeeds in getting the man
out of the house and into the spaceship, but he
accidently drops the man before closing the door
5. As the man is falling to the ground, the mentor
catches him and starts working with the switches
professionally/ with great speed to put the human
back to his bed and everything back to its places
6.Stu is very disappointed but the mentor cheers
him up by letting him drive the spaceship home./
allow him to drive the spaceship as an
encouragement
7. A moment later, the spaceship smashes into the
ground and destroys the man's house, thus leaving
nothing except for a tall pillar where the man is still
sound asleep in his bed
The way we arrange the events in order, we select
the significant ones and make sure all of the events
relate to each other, we are creating a PLOT
Presentation:  Introduce to the students the Plot : PLOT is Take note about the Plot Diagram
Plot important as it highlight the a specific and purposeful Discuss with others about type of
Diagram / cause- and -effect relationship. How do we build up a conflict...
Terminology plot for a story ? Work as a class, try to apply what have
introducing Diagram/Terminology as well as Plot elements learned into making the Lifted plot

Produce of the short stories ( one for each group, 5 groups )
( 15 minutes )  Hand out 3 short stories , ask SS to highlight the
significant events ( will explain ) ( with highlighter )
- Red Riding Hood
- The Boy who cried wolf
- Jack and the bean stalk
 Discuss the Climax and share their opinion and
their type of conflict
Jack and the bean stalk :
Ex :Jack is a poor little boy who lives in the forest with
his mom
Ris: Jack sells the cow, sell the cow for some magic
beans.Mom gets angry and throws out of the window.
The next morning, jacks see the giant beanstalk and
climbs on it, see a castle and meet a giant
Climax : The giants go to sleep, Jacks steal a bag of
gold, the harp and the hen that lays golden egg.
The giant wakes up
Fall: the giant chases Jack, Jack chops down the
beanstalk, the giant dies
Resolution: Live happily after
gate and lets the man fall into the
ground( Can't be debatable )
Falling action : Alien mentor catches
the man, fixes everything and lets the
intern drive the spaceship
Resolution : Alien intern crashes the
spaceship and the man is lifted in a tall
pillar, still sleeping soundly
Work in group, discuss and make a plot
diagram of the short stories

The Little Red Riding hood :
Ex : Grandma gives red hood as a gift, grandma is ill so
prepare a basket of goodies for her ..begin walking
through the dangerous woods to deliver the basket
Rising : Wolf spots the little red ridding hood, and ask
her where is she going
The wolf returns to the Grandma house, eat her and
then wear her clothes, glasses
Little red arrives at the house and questions all of the
things that appear differently about her " Grandma"
Climax: Little red comments on the wolf 's noses, eyes,
ears and teeth and he responds by swallowing the little
red hood
Falling : the wolf falls asleep, the huntman come and
discover the wolf as the woman, and quicky cuts the
wolf's stomach
Resolution : The Huntman kill the wolf and out step the
Little Red and the Granny, safe and happy

Homework  Finish the Plot Diagram
