with his mother and his brother who are trying to convince him to get rid of the terribly ill
cat that he brought home, but he wants to save the cat. Even though he is just a kid, I
admire him because he is Caring, he is Determined, and most of all, he is very Positive.
The first reason why I admire home is because he is caring. One example that
proves that he is Caring is that he picks up the extremely ill cat in the first place. He had
nothing to do with the cat but showed how much he cared by taking the cat home to
treat it.(Howe,1) Another example that shows how much he cares is that after he
brought the cat home, he says “Don’t worry Smoky. I won’t let anything happen to you, I
don’t care how sick you are.”(Howe, 2) This shows that he will protect Smoky, his cat as
much as he can.

because he firmly tells his mom that it is his. He is also determined to save the cat
because he says, “My big brother will take you to Dr. Milk’s and give you shots and
medicine and stuff and you’ll get better, you’ll see. My big brother can fix anything.” This
positive person is that he encourages the cat and tells it stuff like “everything will be
okay.” (Howe, 1) Later in the story, after his mom tells him the cat is already half gone,
he replies with, “ Then it’s half alive too.” This shows that he is positive because he
