Be Sure The Front Track Roller Frame Is Not Overextended

D8L, D9L Tractors

Reports indicate that in many cases, when the track is adjusted, the front track roller frame is
extended past the specified maximum. This can result in damage to the guide stops on the rear of
the front track roller frame. The maximum front track roller frame extension [dimension (A) in the
illustration] for the D8L Tractor is 165 mm (6.5"). For the D9L Tractor, dimension (A) is 160 mm
(6.3"). If undercarriage wear requires the front track roller frame adjustment to exceed the
maximum recommended extension, a track link should be removed to maintain the correct
adjustment. See the appropriate Maintenance Guide for more complete track adjustment
information.
