Problem Statement:
Flow across a flat plate with following characteristics. Obtain the velocity and Pressure
Distribution.

𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑡𝑦 = 1𝑚/𝑠
𝑉𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦 = 1𝑒 − 4 kg/(m-s)
𝑅𝑒𝑦𝑛𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑠 𝑛𝑜 = 10000
𝐿𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑡ℎ = 𝑙 = 1𝑚
Geometry:
The geometry was created by first drawing a rectangle. Then that rectangle was converted in to a
surface from concept tab. This is how it looked after the process.

Thickness:
The thickness was held zero. That is a 2 dimension problem was solved.
Meshing:
The meshing was done by setting 60 divisions in vertical direction and 50 divisions in horizontal
direction. This was done by using the feature of Sizing.

Biasing:
Divisons were biased using biasing tab only vertically. A bias factor of 70 was chosen.

Final Mesh:
Creating Named Selections:
Named selections were created so that our problem could be simplified while the boundary
conditions.

Setup:
In this step boundary conditions were given. Below is the image for inlet.
Solution:
SIMPLE scheme was selected with second order upwind. Then after initializing, the iterations
were set to 1000.

Solution Convergence:
The solution converged as shown in the figure below.
Results:
Below is the image of velocity contours drawn as POINTS and shown with lines.

Error/ Mistake Explained:

The above graph is inaccurate because it could not be plotted accurately due to some unknown
reason apparently despite many efforts. However it is still attached so that the attempt can be
shown.
