Course Name: Workshop on Emotional Intelligence - HRS 5808
Credits: 0 (10 Hours)
Course instructor: Prof. Ashis Sen (Adjunct)

INTRODUCTION
You would be expected to display many of the leadership functions in the organizational arena, in
the near future. Our cognitive abilities while enabling us to do better in the academic world, are
not enough to function as either effective managers or leaders.

Research has repeatedly validated that superior and differentiated performance is casually
related to Emotional Intelligence competencies like Self Awareness, Achievement Orientation,
Influence, Inspirational Leadership, Empathy, Self-Regulation amongst other competencies.
Research proves that EQ IQ as differentiated competencies which deliver superior performance
at the workplace are Emotional Intelligence Competencies.

EI is important for workplace effectiveness because in the workplace we handle a social rather
than a mechanistic system. Today organizations are focused on team and people management
