I. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

C OURSE DESCRIPTION

The course is a survey of the greatest masterpieces of literature from all over the world, embracing more than 5000 years
of development of world literature, in different literary forms or genres, with representatives from various places,
cultures, and periods that produced them.

1. Summative Activities and Worksheets (60%). You experience activities that will help you perform
and demonstrate needed competencies for this course. These include worksheets, reaction
papers, position papers, illustrations, infographics, and other summative strategies.
2. Examinations and Terminal Requirements (40%). Examinations include your prelims, midterms,
pre-finals, and finals. These examinations will be taken through the iStudy portal. Your final
requirement for this course will be a term paper (a critical analysis) of a book included in the list of
great books, centering on the book’s message and theme and of the work’s merits why it is a part
of the canon. The term paper consists of 4-6 pages, computerized, double-spaced, 12 font-size,
Calibri or Times New Roman. Further, critical views from the web and other sources incorporated
in the paper must be properly cited. This is to be submitted via your course facilitator’s AUP e-mail
address.

CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR MISSED CLASSES: You and the teacher will always be in constant communication in case loss of
connection, power outages, or unavoidable circumstances that cause the missing of important video conferences
will happen. Your class should come into agreement to address missed classes as promptly as possible.

B EHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS

1. Netiquette. Since most of our activities will be online, you are expected to practice netiquette in all
situations. Be guided with the following:
a. During video conferences (Zoom, MS Teams), make sure to mute your microphone when
needed, and unmute when being asked to talk.
b. Avoid placing unacceptable photos as your profile picture, including in your iStudy profile.
c. Make sure you address your teacher and classmates properly during online forums and video
conferences.
d. Send messages in a professional, courteous manner in chatrooms and in e-mails.
e. Use sentence cases rather than all capitals when communicating.
f. Ask permission before recording video conferences.
2. Proactivity. You are expected to be proactive while engaging in both synchronous and
asynchronous modes of learning online. Engagement and participation in the online portal, or
activities in MS Teams, will be regularly checked. Your instructor will communicate with you through
e-mail, text, Messenger, or other means at least once a week. Make sure that you are ready for

discussions and questions when you engage in video conferencing by studying your readings ahead
of time.
3. Punctuality. You will be expected to send in requirements promptly through the iStudy portal or MS
Teams. Reasonable time will be given for your work, but late work of more than 2 weeks will already
be given deductions.
4. Consultations. You are expected to consult with the teacher in multiple modalities. (See information
about the teacher) When doing SMS, make sure to introduce yourself in ALL introductory messages.
You may address concerns through Messenger Group Chat, or personal messaging, whichever
applies.
