WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHECKING HARDNESS ON MICRO

HARDNESS TESTER

1. To switch on the machine push red switch, one time, feed dwell & push
enter, feed load value & push enter.
2. Then fix the polished and etched sample with its polished face upwards
into the vice. Then focus the sample in computer.
3. select the objective lens as 20x or40x.
4. Open the micro-hardness program in the computer. Open the file , select
optical setting20x/40x, feed cutoff value.
5. Select the load and distance of taking indent in stage commands’ .After
initialize the X, 4,2 stage.
6. To bring the indenter just above the sample and put load on it and then
start indentation.
7. After indentation get completed, remove the load.
8. Bring the 20x or 40x, whichever you had set, on to just above the
sample and focus on the monitor of computer.
9. Capture all indent images one by one and measure their diagonals.
10.After measuring diagonal of all the indents, click on file, then
click on the print preview fill the customer name, charge no,
Specifications. And get the report.
Precautions:
1. Level of the sample should be plane.
2. Always run the m/c &computer according to the program.
3. While putting sample in the machine make sure that it does not
Strike the indenter.
4. Do not change the magnification for at different stages.
5. Put as load on the indenter as you have set in the computer.
