CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS

5.1. Conclusion
IoT has been used in many areas such as smart home, smart supply chain, smart
farming, industrial internet, wearable devices and so on. In this project, IoT based home
automation is designed and implemented with sensors, actuators and web controlled
server. This IoT based home automation system is divided into security system, cooling
system, monitoring system and control system included with subsystem in each part. All
the systems are controlled by Arduino Mega 2560 and Arduino Uno microcontroller.
For the security system, the emergency state and home security system are
consisted. In home security system, the door is secured with a password and also
mounted transmitter and receiver on the wall. This system also detects if the combustible
gases are in the house and activates the emergency alarm. As the Emergency alarm is
activated, fire extinguisher is ON and all the cooling, water pumping and planting system
are closed. The emergency case in home can be known locally by alarming system.
In monitoring system, local monitoring and local web server are contained. All of
the percentage of each system state are displayed by LCD and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module is
interfaced with Arduino Mega via serial communication. All of the devices and sensors
state can be monitored in local LCD display and local web server by entering IP address
99.101.95.109 in any browser.
Finally yet important tasks like water filling the tank, keeping room temperature
conditions by exhaust fan and intake fan, lighting and watering the plants in garden are
done by Arduino Mega and relays .The relays are used to drive the actuators. The main
reason why this project uses both exhaust and intake fan is to get fresh air circulation in
house ; oxygen since plants need carbon dioxide to grow bigger indeed and sun light also
needed. These small tasks can be monitored any time and with the help of IoT, all of the
daily routines become easier, effective and can save more time.

5.2 Further Extension and Recommendations for the system to improve

 Extending the Wi-Fi range by using repeaters
 Controlling the home appliances from the internet
 To improve by using GSM module to get notifications in phone
