580JB
Description: BI-O-PLEXTM WATER REDUCIBLE ENAMEL 580JB is a water reducible enamel intended for
fabricators and industrial maintenance applications that dries faster than normal water
reducible coatings. Water thinning and clean-up make this product safe and easy to use.
Recommended use: Applications needing a fast drying, water reducible topcoat with a wide color range and glossy
appearance.
PHYSICAL CONSTANTS:
The physical constants stated are nominal data according to approved formulas.
APPLICATION DETAILS:
Safety: Handle with care. Before and during use, observe all safety labels on packaging and paint
containers, consult Safety Data Sheets and follow all local or national safety regulations.
SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces must be sound, dry, clean and free of oil, dirt, grease, wax, loose or flaking paint
and other surface contaminants. Remove form release agents, etc. by power washing with an
appropriate cleaner, rinse, and dry. Concrete and mortar must be cured at least 30 days at
75°F before painting. For best results, a SSPC-SP5 (NACE No. 1) white metal blast is
minimum for severe exposure. For moderate exposure, a SSPC-SP6 (NACE No. 3)
commercial blast should be used.
For improved corrosion resistance, Bi-O-PlexTM Water Reducible Primer should be used.
APPLICATION CONDITIONS: Apply only on a dry and clean surface with a temperature 5°Fabove the dew point to avoid
condensation. Use only where application and curing can proceed at temperatures above:
10°C/50°F. The temperature of the paint itself should be: 15-25°C/59-77°F. In confined
spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Mix thoroughly before
usage. May be applied by air spray, or airless spray. ONLY USE APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT WITH STAINLESS STEEL LINED FLUID PASSAGES.
REMARKS:
Mixing: Mix thoroughly before use. Only apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50-
100F.
Drying: Under normal conditions, dries to touch in 15 minutes and to recoat in 60 minutes. Low
temperature, high humidity, poor ventilation and thick films will retard drying. Good air
movement and low humidity will aid in the proper drying of water reducible coatings.
Cleaning: Clean skin, clothing, tools or spills immediately with soap and water. Dried material may be
removed by scraping, or by mixing 1 part of Butyl Cellosolve to 5 parts water. If spilled,
contain spilled material and remove with inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent,
container and unused contents in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
