Verb changes (backshift) + pronouns and time expressions change

Reporting questions
(No auxiliaries + no change of order + keep tense backshift!):

Yes/No questions:
Direct: Did you go to the cinema? – Reported: He asked me if/whether I had gone to the cinema
Wh- questions:
Direct: What time is it? – Reported: He asked me what time it was.

Indirect questions
(No auxiliaries + no change of order + no tense backshift!):
I don’t know what time the movie starts
Could you tell me where the station is, please?

Other reporting verbs: Claim, suggest, advise, admit, deny, insist….

Reporting verb + “that clause” Almost all of them: Admit, deny, insist, suggest, advise, explain…
Reporting verb + gerund (-ing) Admit, deny, suggest, apologise for, insist on, regret, recommend…
Reporting verb + to Infinitive Agree, offer, ask, expect, promise, order, invite, warn…
