Under the classification of Intellectual Wellness, we are analyzing
the chapter - ö©#²nºuÀ (Knowledge of absolute reality).
I wish to recall that, we have classified the chapters of Tirukkural,
under this program EÒÍ¢@uõÖ® ÁÒÐÁ®.
In this chapter, ö©#²nºuÀ, Tiruvalluvar has written Kurals that
teaches the knowledge of absolute reality.
In the first Kural, Tiruvalluvar mentioned that, we should not take
this worldly life to be real and should not be carried away by it.
If we give excess reality to this life, that will lead to lot of sorrows.
Thus, in this worldly life, if sorrows should not affect us, we have to
know the reality of this life.
This was the idea conveyed in the first Kural.
That does not mean that we should not be active in life. We can
work with eagerness and intelligence, but simultaneously, we should
keep the reality of this world, deep in our mind.
This is very much acceptable to our discriminative power. Thus,
Tirukkural helps us to balance ourselves.
We have to lead our life in a Dhaarmic way. We have to depend
on God and do noble activities.
At the same time, however much we do noble actions, it is very
important to know the reality behind this worldly life.
We should not lament that, inspite of doing good actions, we are
suffering.
Today is Shani peyarchi - the transit of Saturn. Everyone seems
to celebrate and give so much importance to it.
I pray to Shani Bhagavan, that people should celebrate and imbibe
EÒÍ¢@uõÖ® ÁÒÐÁ® more than that.
Shani Bhagavan is generally mentioned as ©õµPß, bõÚ PõµPß.
He gives sorrows to everyone and through that, blesses them with
maturity of mind.
The scriptures of Jyotisha sastra tell that, “Shani Bhagavan blesses
us with Jnanam - wisdom”.
We should not think that the problems of our life are real.
Both the joys and sorrows, that we experience in this life are not
real.
We should have this clear knowledge, deep in our mind. Only for
this, I am explaining this chapter.
Whatever joys and sorrows, pleasures and pains, that we face in
life, it is our duty to understand that they are not real.
To help us, assimilate this truth alone, Tiruvalluvar has written this
chapter. With the very same intention, I have included this chapter under
AÔÄ |»® or intellectual wellness.
What do we understand by this second Kural of this chapter?
We have to note four things -

C¸Ò }UP®

Cߣ® £¯zuÀ
I will explain all these in detail. This Kural teaches a very wonderful
concept.
Commentators have written brilliant, excellent explanations for
this Kural.
I am condensing the ideas of various commentators and presenting
these thoughts to you.
The Kural,

has four parts. ©¸Ò }UP®, C¸Ò }UP®, ©õŒÖ Põm], Cߣ®
£¯zuÀ.
We will see one by one.
©¸Ò }UP®. The word ©¸Ò means moha in Sanskrit and delusion
in English.
‘Not analyzing the permanent and impermanent objects of this
world’ is known as delusion.
Seeking the impermanent objects and working to attain them is
known as ©¸Ò or delusion.
If we work towards attaining something, after knowing its
impermanent nature, it gives certain degree of maturity.
For that, we need good company. Company of, noble men of
wisdom or satsangam.
Otherwise, we will take this life to be real and will suffer so much.
We will start blaming God and people around and the society.
We feel so disappointed if we are unable to fulfil our desires and
expectations.
Big or small, all desires have to face failures, due to karmas - the
result of our past actions.
We have to note this. Those who did not study the scriptures
properly alone, will blame God and scriptures.
The word ©¸Ò means delusion. We have seen this word in the
first Kural itself, which said, ©¸ÍõÚõ® ©õnõ¨ ¤Ó¨¦.
We have to get rid of this delusion. How to do that?
We will learn tomorrow.
