COURSE GUIDE FOR BIO 13 (Laboratory)

GENERAL BOTANY

Course Description: General Botany is a 5-unit course work consisting of 2 units laboratory and 3 units
lecture academic credits. General Botany covers basic principles in plant biology such as morphology,
anatomy, structural organizations and functional activities. It will also cover topics in plant diversity,
ecology, reproduction and evolution. This course is conducted in 3 hours lecture and 6 hours of laboratory
classes per week.

Objectives:

• Skillfully and efficiently use microscopy and histological study techniques and develop independent study
• Identify the different organ systems, tissues, and cells, including their function.
• Differentiate monocot and dicot plant structures morphologically and anatomically.

Course Credit/Time Frame: 2 units


Class session: 2 lab meetings (6 hours a week)
