SURFACE WELL PRESSURE CONTROL has two main parts :

™ WELLHEAD :

Wellhead is an arrangement of pressure containing housings and

spools, connected together in a pressure-tight assembly supporting
multiple, concentric strings of down-hole casing , provides a
connection point for the pressure control equipment, contains well
pressure and allows access into the annulus bores.Wellhead
includes from “Base Plate” to “Bottom Master Valve” .
Nowadays, it`s used “Flanged Wellheads” which are High Pressure,
severe service and robust with high integrity seals.

™ CHRISTMAS TREE :

Just above the tubing hanger (Bottom Master Valve) is the

Christmas tree.
It includes:
Valves
Tees and Crosses
Actuators
Tree Cap
Gauges
Choke
Flowlines
Which are Pressure and Flow Control Equipment and
allows access into the Production Bore or Tubing .

There are two types of xmas-tree:

1- Loose Valves which are:

ƒ Cost effective
ƒ Alternative stack-up arrangements possible
ƒ Repair by replacement as needed
ƒ Flexible manufacturing
ƒ Large bore, high pressure available.
2- Solid Block which is:
ƒ Single forging, minimum leak paths
ƒ Compact design
ƒ High structural strength
ƒ Ideal for offshore platform applications
