Review your purpose, vision and mission with reference to your interested parties (4.1)
ISO 9001 Requirements - Clause 4.1 Requires you to take the following actions:
 to identify each specific organizational contextual issue that may impact the organization and its QMS; acquire and evaluate timely
knowledge and information about them;
 evaluate the risks and opportunities that these contextual factors present and
 take appropriate actions to mitigate the risk or exploit the opportunity under clause 6.1;
 and include all of this in documenting the scope of the organization’s QMS, processes, products and services.

Determine the needs and expectations of your interested parties (4.2)


ISO 9001 Requirements - Clause 4.2 Understanding interested parties needs
Let’s start with paraphrasing what the standard (not just this clause) says and requires regarding interested parties’:
1. An interested parties may affect your ability to consistently provide conforming products and services to customers.
2. We need to identify each RIP and ascertain exactly in what way, shape or form they affect this ability (4.2).
3. We need to determine their specific requirements that impact this ability (4.2).
4. We need to track, collect and review information about interested parties’ and their requirements (4.2).
5. When determining the scope of the QMS, the organization must consider the requirements of interested parties’ that are relevant to the
QMS (4.3).
6. There is no requirement to widen the QMS scope to include meeting the requirements of interested parties not relevant to the QMS. (Annex
A.3)
7. The quality policy must be available to interested parties’ as appropriate (5.2.2.c).
8. The level of control for the design and development (DD) process expected by interested parties’ must be considered in planning the stages
and controls for the DD process (8.3.2.i).
9. The management review of QMS performance and effectiveness must also consider feedback from interested parties’ (9.3.2.c1).
