A bus was scheduled to travel from Town X to Town Y at constant speed 𝑉 𝑘𝑚/ℎ. If the
speed of the bus was increased by 20%, it could arrive at Town Y an hour ahead of schedule.
Instead, if the bus travelled the first 120 km at 𝑉 𝑘𝑚/ℎ then increased its speed by 25%,
it could arrive 0.8 ℎ ahead of schedule. Find the distance between the two towns.

Example 5
Candle 𝐴 took 3 hours to finish burning. Another shorter candle, 𝐵, with a bigger diameter,
took 5 hours to finish burning. The two candles were lit at the same time and had the same
height 2 hours later. What was the ratio of the heights of 𝐴 ∶ 𝐵 at first?
