The first thing I noticed in the picture is the overcrowded people. It is the prisoners that is living in a
cramped condition. Some of the prisoners are not wearing a shirt to ease the heat inside the cell due to
poor ventilation and the overcrowded population. Also in this Covid19 pandemic condition the inmates
\ are not wearing facemask and cannot apply the social distancing to avoid getting infected of the virus.
Formulate two questions under each category and provide some answers to those questions.

Q1: _What other sites that reported the same situation in the image?_____________________________
Answer: New York Times also published article about the prisoners risk on the corona virus pandemic.

Q2: What could be the difference in the situation of the inmates in the image from the other jail?
Answer: There is no difference even before the Covid19 pandemic came, there is already a overcrowded
situation in every cell but the situation gets worse because of the possibility of getting infected by the virus
because they cannot apply the social distancing.

Contextualization:
Q1: Where does the image occur?_______________________________________________________
Answer: The image is taken in Quezon City Jail.

Q2: How might the image affect the perception of the viewers?_____________________________________
Answer: The viewers of the image might conclude that if one of the inmates gets infected it would easily spread
from the other inmates.

Close Reading/Observation
Q1: _Why are the inmates not wearing mask and apply sanitization?_______________________________
Answer: In the image the prisoners are not wearing mask and sanitization because jails do not operate like
homes or workplace. Many correctional facilities restrict access to common hygiene products containing
contraband ingredients, such as alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Q2: What about the health care of the inmates? _________________________________________

Answer: Since there is a shortage of health care professionals due to the pandemic the inmates faces the lack of
medical care for testing and treatment of Covid19 symptoms and possibility of treatment.

I learned that one image can show so much details and information. You can make perception about
what is really happening in the situation.
