Preference-the fact that you like something or someone more than another thing or person

Isolation- the condition of being alone

Fiction: the type of book or story that is written about imaginary characters and events and


not based on real people and facts

Fantasy- a story or type of literature that describes situations that are very different from real life,


usually involving magic

Shed- a small building, usually made of wood, used for storing things

Pushchair- a small folding chair on wheels that a baby or small child sits in and is pushed around in;


buggy/pram/ baby carriage/stroller

Script: the words of a film, play, broadcast, or speech

Sitcom (situation comedy)- a television series in which the


same characters are involved in amusing situations in each show

Deaf: unable to hear, either completely or partly

Literary critic-a person who studies and discuss of works of literature,


by judging and explaining their importance and meaning

Novelist- a person who writes novels

Journalist- a person who writes news stories or articles for a newspaper or magazine or broadcasts them


on radio or television

Composer: a person who writes music

Poet: a person who writes poems

Scriptwriter-a person who writes the words for films or radio or television broadcasts

Songwriter- a person who writes the music and words of songs

Playwright: a person who writes plays/ dramatist

Author- the writer of a book/ article/ play etc.

Chapter: any of the separate parts into which a book or other piece of text is divided, usually given


a number or title:

Episode: one of the single parts into which a story is divided, especially when it is broadcast on


the television or radio

Anthem- a national song of a country

Verse:one of the parts that a poem or song is divided into:


Play(THEATRE)- a piece of writing intended to be performed by actors in a theatre or on television or
the radio

Act-one of the parts that a play, opera, or ballet is divided into. Each act is divided into two or


more scenes

Track- (MUSIC)- a song or piece of music that is recorded on a CD, tape, or record
