This document outlines the 11 components of physical fitness according to a PHED 213 course at Our Lady of Fatima University College of Medical Laboratory Science. The 11 components are: 1) agility, 2) balance, 3) body composition, 4) cardiovascular endurance, 5) coordination, 6) flexibility, 7) muscular endurance, 8) muscular strength, 9) power, 10) reaction time, and 11) speed. Each component is defined and examples are given of how it benefits physical health and performance.

1. AGILITY- it’s define as change direction to change direction of the entire body with speed and accuracy. This component can use to sport like basketball. Agility can improve our flexibility, balance and help our body to maintain proper alignment and posture. 2. BALANCE- is ability to stay in body’s composition. Like athlete that can well balance on the floor. This components help us to reduce the risk of falls mostly older adults face this problems. It can also help to improves posture of a stroke. 3. BODY COMPOSITION- this component is for distribution of muscle and fat in the body. It also includes body size because of the fat and muscle mass. Body composition reduce risk of hypertension, heart disease and lastly will help us to move freely and to exercise more. 4. CARDIOVASCULAR ENDURANCE- this component is important to sports to prolong their exercise, this also supply energy to your working muscles to sustain what we are doing. It can lower our resting heart rate, lower risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and body weight etc. 5. COORDINATION- is to perform our body smooth and easy movements. It is also the ability to select the right muscle at the right time. 6. FLEXIBILITY- this is the ability of our joint to move pain free range of motion. Stretching our body helps us to become more flexible and to do many more physical benefits. It can also improve our balance just like the component of balance. 7. MUSCULAR ENDURANCE- this is for muscle group to sustain our repeated contractions, it gives us also power and strength. It improves our activities and reduce risk of injury. 8. MUSCULAR STRENGTH- it is for our muscle to exert force, muscle also exert muscle force repeatedly overtime. It is also to keep our body weight. 9. POWER- this is for our defined of amount of work we do and also it can measure our fastest speed that we exert it. Mostly athletes always seek for this to develop their strength and speed. It is also improve our heart health. 10. REACTION TIME- it is refer to our speed that respond to our stimulus. Mostly this components always happen in emergency situation. It is the measurement of our nerve to respond in the brain called hemeostasis. 11. SPEED- this applied t sports like swimming, running and many more. It is the speed of our muscle to move in full range of motion, it’s improve also our flexibility. It train our muscle balance and exercise for the injury prone muscles.
