“To everything (turn, turn, turn), there is a season (turn,
turn, turn) and a time to every purpose under heaven …”
These lyrics, by the rock group the Byrds, begin the song,
“Turn, Turn, Turn,’ that was released in 1965. The song
was inspired by the writer, King Solomon, in Ecclesiastes
chapter 3, specifically verses 1-8. Of course, Solomon was
inspired by the Holy Spirit. These words from the Word of
God, and of less importance, from a classic rock tune,
remind me that there is a season for everything—”there
is a time for every event under heaven” and that includes
a worldwide pandemic.
Historically, pandemics come and go. God is still God
through each of these, sometimes catastrophic, events.
He is just as sovereign during a global virus as He is in
times of war or times of peace (verse 8). God also says
that there is an “appointed time for everything” (verse 1).
This is not the first pandemic, nor will it be the last.
The important thing is to continue to live our lives
trusting our Creator, Sustainer and Savior. With everyone
seeking God’s leadership and discernment and each of us
safeguarding ourselves, our families and one another,
then we will all be able to get through this “season,” this
“appointed time” of pandemic. God is good all the time—
all the time, God is good!
I am handing over the remainder of my article space for
Lance Maddox to share some news with you!
We have some exciting news to share… It has been
approved through a 2 month process from the technical
committee through the deacons and our stewardship
team to move forward with a 3 phased plan to repair,
improve, & update our church security cameras,
computers, networking and video ministry equipment.
The first phase will be roughly $185,000 and the money
will come from estate gifts donated to Eastmont as well
as using a portion from our Emergency/ Building
Maintenance Fund. From upgrading outdated and
obsolete equipment to safeguarding our church family,
we are blessed by your faithful giving to move forward
and take care of these needs! We’ll need some help
from the many capable hands of our church members
to make this possible too!
The first phase is already underway with the
purchase of necessary cabling etc. and once it arrives,
we could use a lot of help to run wires throughout the
church building. If you aren’t afraid of ladders, keep
watching for more information. We want to get started
as soon as we can, but we are currently waiting for the
materials to come in. We’ll have a plan and let you
know about dates to volunteer asap!

COVID-19 Updates
Sunday Worship Services
8:45 am & 11:00 am services in the worship center. Go to
eastmont.org to make a reservation for your household
or call the church office. The 11:00 am service will be live
streamed at eastmont.org/live.
LifeGroups
LifeGroups are now meeting in person on campus if they
desire to do so. Please contact your LifeGroup leader to
see if or when your LifeGroup is meeting.
Prayer and Fasting
Join us in fasting from sunrise to sunset on Thursdays.
During the time that you would usually eat, pray for our
faith family, our nation, and all those impacted by the
COVID-19 virus.

If you are a church member or know of a church member
requiring assistance with essential needs please call the
church office and / or email ebc@eastmont.org.

Forever Young
There will be no Forever Young meeting in September.
Plans are in the works for another back parking lot get
together in the Fall when the weather is a little cooler.

SUNDAY LIFEGROUPS 10AM
Students currently in Grades 8-12 have resumed meeting
for on-campus LifeGroups Sundays at 10am. 7th Grade
Students will officially join us Sunday, September 13.

TIMEOUT - WEDNESDAY WORSHIP
Students meet Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. Our student praise band leads in worship
and Cleve delivers a message from Scripture. Please
wear masks and follow the posted rules for social
distancing.
WINTER RETREAT / VIRTUAL 5K
Online sign-ups for Winter Retreat open August 26. Visit
Eastmont.org for dates, costs, and travel arrangements.
Strength To Stand is offering a Virtual 5K fundraiser
allowing students to raise support for Winter Retreat.
We plan to run as a group on September 16. Sign up at

FAMILY BIBLE STUDY
We host weekly ZOOM calls on Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. to
discuss the Gospel of Mark. Visit the student Facebook

Missions
Missionaries Support
Emilyn Meyer and Clay Richardson will both be serving as
missionaries in Auburn & London, respectively. Pray for
them as they fulfill God's calling. If you would like to

Drive-Thru Community Food Outreach
Eastmont will host a Community Food Distribution in the
back parking lot on Saturday, September 19th from
2:00—6:00 pm. Volunteers are needed for the following:
• Prayer walk and distribute flyers (September 12 & 13)
• Sort and bag food (September 17)
• Prayer Station (September 19)
• No Contact Food Distribution (September 19)
• Directing Traffic (September 19)

volunteer for any of these tasks.
Music & Worship Ministries

Thank you for allowing me to serve you as Worship
Pastor. I am honored to stand with you every week and
point to Jesus! And I am humbled and blessed to be part
of so many that take on the work of worship… From our
many choirs, instrumental and vocal ensembles to our
comprehensive technical ministry, may He be glorified
and we be blessed by songs that preach the gospel and
the equipment that clarifies and shares His message
through us!
We continue to safely move forward and we are ready to
bring back an “adjusted” Worship Choir for both of our
services and our Wednesday night rehearsals, keeping
the health and safety of our members in mind.
