point of view taking common rhetorical devices, logical fallacies and semiotics into account.

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32Vqn_kU0rQ

Ans: Ethos: over here in this advertisement, mother-daughter bonding shows a concerning
side of the mother which pushes reliability and ethical nature of the advertisement.

Pathos: Here Pathos has been the time when The young says "she would like to watch the rain in
the extra partition" as it shows they are not capable enough for a house with extra partition. Also,
BIG DREAM suggests to catch audience or mostly parents mindset.

Logos: Here, Logos have been the study till late night to become a doctor as there is a way many
barriers to become a doctor which appeal Audience and that's the reason her mother wants to
give her strength booster Horlicks so that she could work more.

Rhetorical Device Hyperbole or Overstatement has been used here ever so cleverly that as little
girl is having the night off for doctor such early age to raise emotion.

Non-sequitur is kind of seemed as logical fallacies as The mother jumped on the result for her
big dream, she needs proper diet than guidance.

Semiotics over here used as Nutrients in Milk as CGI also in initial movement, the clock was in
1:30 and the Mosquito net was on held shows the night time appearance finally, the sound of rain
used as Semiotics of rainy time.
Short questions (Each question carries 5 marks)

2. What is cultural hegemony to you? Explain why the most of the middle-class
Bangladeshi female prefer Indian and Pakistani clothing instead of their own clothing despite
Bangladesh being the second largest country of exporting readymade garment after China?

Ans: Cultural hegemony is the control of culture through the domination of social
groups via social institutions. Put cultural hegemony is a type of hegemony that serves to
police society in a way that is unnoticeable to the dominant group and is perpetuated as the
parameters of what to think and how to think about it.

As due to the above definition, we can see there is a high value of cultural dominance
by India-Pakistan on Bangladesh due to colonial view and it's satellite media which is why
being having own parameters clothing gets neglected out and brought back by India-Pakistani
clothing in a place.

3. How does media create “psychological terror” and “imaginary appetite” among us?
Explain your position taking “media spectacle” and “hyperreality” into account.

Ans: Psychological terror, aspect of fear which brings the out disastrous point of
view among people the people or community. Imaginary Appetite is a thing which is has
been there before but somehow does not get satisfied. Media often desolates people
through bringing imaginary question either through rumor or suggestion and havocs our
daily life in a sudden way which is implacable. Imaginary appetite got dissolved through
different media with a simulative way which puts our mind ahead of thinking.

Media spectacle refers to technologically mediated events, in which media forms

like broadcasting, print media, or the Internet process events in a spectacular form.
Hyperreality is the inability of consciousness to distinguish reality from a simulation of
reality, especially in technologically advanced societies. Media spectacle is good in some
sense as it brings people together and gives them a sigh of relief throughout the worst
situation. Hyperreality somehow making us disabled to connect ourselves into the outside
world due to not capable conscience difference
4. Among economic, social, cultural and symbolic capital which one is the most
important to you and why? How does cultural capital create social inequality?

Ans: Cultural capital is understood to contribute to 'getting on in life' or 'social status',

i.e. being able to perform well in school, knowing how to talk in different social groups or
societies, accessing higher education and being successful in work or a career. In the field of
sociology, cultural capital comprises the social assets of a person (education, intellect, style of
speech, style of dress, etc.) that promote social mobility in a stratified society.

As a general conclusion , cultural capital is clearly a core concept in the

transmission of social inequality between the generations in different countries, but there
seems to be a tendency in modern school systems for it not to be participation in high status
cultural activities that is the crucial aspect of cultural capital for the transmission of social
inequality, but rather the family’s reading behavior and culture. Decomposed into a measure
for visits to cultural institutions (museums, theaters, opera houses) and one for reading
behavior ( number of books, possession of books, on classical literature and poetry etc) only
reading behavior has a significant effect on reading literacy ( own computations, publication
in progress).
