    CONTENT STANDARDS The learner acquires knowledge of appropriate reading strategies for a better
    understanding of academic texts
    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The learner produces a detailed abstract of information gathered from the
    various academic texts read.
    LEARNING COMPETENCIES The learner determines the structure of a specific academic work

    1. Define academic writing and distinguish it from other kinds of writing
    2. Identify the purpose, audience, language, style of academic writing
