The Effectiveness of Work Immersion as Perceived by the SHS TVL-HE Students

Rationale of the Study

This study aims to describe and understand of work immersion in their future. To

help the SHS TVL how to build their skills by having a work immersion. Also, it could

help them to further understand the means of work immersion.

According to the K to 12 basic education curriculum Work Immersion is one of the

course requirements for graduation. A Senior High School student has to undergo Work

Immersion in an industry that directly relates to the student’s postsecondary goal.

Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiar with work-

related environment related to their field of specialization to enhance their competence.

The main goal of this study is to give awareness of the benefits that the work

immersion give especially in the future as they apply for a job. Also through work

immersion it can able to build and enhance their skills in social communication, self-

determined, persistent, problem solving, experience and concern of a person. And also,

it can develop their performance in the actual field.

In additional, the K to 12 basic education curriculum focus the students to be able: gain

relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and

workers; appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories taught

in school; enhance their technical knowledge and skills; enrich their skills in
communications and human relations; and develop good work habits, attitudes,

appreciation, and respect for work. These prepare them to meet the needs and

challenges of employment or higher education after graduation.

The formulation of this study can help or benefit senior high school TVL students

that is been given a chance to have a work immersion as their requirements. For SHS

TVL students are more into actualization skills. It will also benefit their parents in order

for them to better understand work immersion and they might give their child an

encouragement by giving them support to engage and value the importance of work

immersion.
