INTRODUCTION
For guide number one, we reviewed a case study about a job advertisement and four
shortlisted applicants that applied for the position, to select which candidate was the most
convenient for the job, we had a discussion and put over our points of view by including some of
the vocabulary commonly used in Human Resources and some expressions that take part in
meetings.
We created a cover letter as if we were one of the applicants of the case study. We learned the
different and appropriate structure for the letter, most commonly used expressions and practiced
the use of gerunds and infinitives. We consider that this guide helped us to develop our
communication skills while going through some topics related to HR.

I am writing to you to apply for the position of General Manager for your chain of Health and
Leisure Clubs advertised in the latest edition of the New York Times.
I have worked as an adviser to the national football team for several years and I am currently
working in Barnard College as a sports organizer.
I would define myself as ambitious, assertive, outspoken and I believe that nothing will stop me
from achieving my goals in life. As you will notice in my CV, I was trained as a dietician at
Berkeley University, U.S and have a Master in Sports Psychology, where I learned how to help
people to stay healthy not only physically but mentally and I’m sure that my experience in this
field will contribute to marketing plans and strategies.
I enjoy working in a team, I am very flexible and dynamic. I love being able to motivate people
to exercise and then seeing their faces.
I have worked with different cultural backgrounds, I speak fluent English, Portuguese, and
Spanish.
I would be available for the interview this week, please do not hesitate to contact me if you
require more information.
Yours sincerely,

CONCLUSIONS
This guideline gave us the opportunity to know and identify different vocabulary and generate
a critical position regarding Human Resources management, also allow us to have a visibility of
global market targets, which at the same time helps to generate possibilities of developing
strategies and communicative skills, based on new marketing parameters where the purpose is
solving different cases and learn how to work and make decisions as a group.
Therefore, the case we studied involved all the vocabulary learned through the guideline one
and we were allowed to put in practice previous and new knowledge about Human Resources.
