SMALL BUSINESS CONSULTING

Small businesses can be found mostly in the rural areas of ever provinces
or any localities where they can sell retail product like rice, bread, sugar, and
coffee that is affordable by the masses for their consumption of their daily
living.
The business that consulted to me was the MJB Wholesale and Retail
Grocery Store Located at Brgy. San Isidro, San Julian E. Samar. It was
owned by Ms. Mary Joy Brozas, 24, graduated of B.S. in Environmental
Science at Eastern Samar State University Main Campus.The objective to her
business is to supply and to sustain the needs of the customers for their
everyday usage especially to those nearby places in the baranggay.
She started at the age of 18 to sell an agricultural products like, banana,
sweet potato, vegetables, and even charcoal just to help her parents for her
daily allowances and expenses for her study. Even at school she is not
ashamed to sell her products to her classmates and teachers like, chips,
candies, yellow pad and biscuits so that they would not rush to go out in the
classroom especially during break time. All of her sacrificed was paid off. She
graduated with flying colors as Deans Lister in her department. Now she is
focused to her business rather than to pursuit her degree.
As we talked about her business, I said that her business strength was
she only have a few competitors in the area, wherein a lot of sari - sari store
around the vicinity and nearby barangay will patronize her business instead
of going to the city they just to buy wholesale product, because in her grocery
store the customer can now save their time and money due to the less
transportation cost. While on the other hand, about the weaknesses of her
business is that the structure of her Grocery Store was too small for many
goods to display. It should have a wide space and and shelves to well
organize the product for convenient shopping on her store and so the
customer can easily locate the product and will not time consume much time
and lastly, she need to add more products for a one stop shop service to the
community. The opportunities of her business has a convenient location, it
accessible by nearby baranggays. She can offer a free delivery to her
customer and can also upgrade her manual calculator to electronic machine
for fast and accurate total amount purchased by the customer to avoid loss of
profit. For wider market, she should have FB Page and Mobile call order
nowadays because the most of the people in this generation are used to have
cellular phone. And last the threat, since our province is prone to typhoons
and flood every year, it is necessary for her to build a strong material that is
enough to stand against calamities,holdup, and will last for a longer duration.
Being an entrepreneur student you are a risk taker, creative and
innovative of something that has a value that can satisfy the needs and wants
of the consumers. I highly recommend the MJB Owners to be updated to the
different programs of the government like DTI, CONSUMERS ACT GROUP,
and NEGOSYO CENTER for the latest trends in the MARKET and
enhancement of the SME’S business sector.
