Video Reflection on SPSS

A Helpful Software

The software that is invented to help people, especially students, researchers and
professionals was introduced to me yesterday. In my life as a student, Microsoft Excel
was the only program that I knew of that caters on helping people neatly compile data. I
never thought before that editing, compiling keeping data was of utmost important until
now. I am very thankful for my college teacher for widening my understanding and
knowledge on data documentation.
The SPSS stood for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. As I viewed how
this software work on the video-sharing platform- Youtube, I was amazed at how
interesting it is to document data. This SPSS program is a data editor that a person could
enter data, do basic manipulation and preparation of data for analysis, run basic and
descriptive statistics and have a syntax editor. Most students, especially those who are
medically inclined, in my opinion are in need of this software program particularly in
making research papers as it is very convenient. I was enjoying the Youtube video which
is an introduction and a basic tutorial on using SPSS. For the first 20 minutes of the
video I was enjoying how the lady introduced the many options and features you can
choose within the program. It was satisfying to know that almost every nooks and
crannies of the data you enter within the software could be edited. As you enter a
variable, you can assign them with gender, scores or age if that is necessary. The most
beautiful thing I learned was that this software is programed to be intelligent as it can
analyze and compute the data, it also tells you what is being done with the data as there
is a tab that will inform you it is calculating data.
I am blown away by what this software can do. In conclusion, this program is neat
and smart, it is truly helpful for people who need to have a data organization with
powerful tools that can recode, analyze, compute and transform variables as it is a
complex and flexible platform for data encoding. I now have insight on how important
documenting data is, it is crucial that the data is correct without errors thankfully great
minds created the SPSS data encoder as a helping hand, it makes documenting easier to
have this. Many people will find this software helpful and I am very grateful that I will be
able to learn, use and appreciate this wonderful program.
