B.1. Assessment and Evaluation

Assessment provides feedback on knowledge, skills, attitudes, and work products for the purpose
of elevating future performances and learning outcomes while Evaluation determines the level of
quality of a performance or outcome and enables decision-making based on the level of quality
demonstrated. The best example of this is the Figure 2 in the module.

B. 2. Measurement and Evaluation

Measurement you simply provide meaningful numbers or labels, you measure, you quantify, for
evaluation you come up with decisions you qualify or when we say evaluation you evaluate, you
provide meaning to the quantity that's why you're going to qualify. For example, the student took a
test and he got 75 out of 100 (75/100 is the measurement), and the passing rate is 60%, 60% of
100 is 60, so that means the passing score is 60 out of 100. So for the evaluation, the student
PASSED the test.
