Solution of the questions

Activity
Solve the following questions:
1. What is an electromagnetic wave?

Rta/ They are those that do not need a medium for their propagation, they can
travel in a vacuum such as the light, these originate from electric and magnetic
fields.

Electromagnetic waves are the support of telecommunications and the

functioning of the world today.

2. What are the parameters in an electromagnetic wave?

Rta/ The fundamental parameters that characterize a wave are:

Wavelength, amplitude, period, frequency and speed of propagation.

3. What is electrical permittivity ε and magnetic permeability μ of a medium?

Rta/ In magnetic terms, permeability is the ease or capacity that a substance
has to allow the passage of the lines of force of a magnet. This degree of ease
varies from according to substances, but none is totally insulating from
magnetism.
Iron and steel are the materials most permeable to magnetism, which is why
they are very used commercially in the manufacture of coil cores, transformers,
electromagnets, hearing aids, among others.
It is a parameter that quantifies the response of a medium to the presence of
an electric field.
4. From the following wave equation:

2π ^
(
E y ( x , t )= A sen ( wt−kx ) ^j = A sen 2 πft−
λ )
x j=C1 sen ( C 2 x 103 t−C 3 x ) ^j

Where C 1 , C2 and C 3correspond to the last 3 digits of your identification.

Notice that in the equation:

A=C1

w=2 πf =C 2 x 10 3

k= =C 3

C 1=1= A

C 2=5

C 3=3
