From the first look I thought he is going to slip in words and barely introduce the students as I could
understand, but he was well practiced, focused, confident, and has a sense of humor. The speaker kept his
presentation short and sweet, his pace was excellent, and he was clear about what he was talking about.
When the speaker was introducing the student (doctor) he described him as a healer who combines the best
of both mind and heart, and I would hazard a guess the doctor worked very hard that he made a name for
himself. The speaker was open-minded, because I have noticed how he was talking about all majors with
passion.

examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from
Unit 2 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

The speaker can be trusted due to the confidence that he had. If the speaker showed that he was hiding
something, then it would be a bad thing that will lead to trust issue, but the speaker was open-minded and he
let us to connect with him and keep our eyes on him without getting distracted. The speaker was speaking his
mind, whatever ideas or sentences he thinks about he says it right away. When the speaker was introducing
the students, he described them as they were over the hill of what they did. From what I can say the speaker
can be fully trusted, because how he convinced us in the conference and proved himself. Also, when the
student or the other speakers come on the stage, they were handshaking with him and that shows us how
they trust the speaker.

3. Make a suggestion or proposal to the speaker. You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct
examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 3 in your answer. Provide
evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

To start with, I’m going to talk briefly about the speaker how he was magnificent, picturesque, and absolutely
incredible. The speaker was confident, but he was reading from a paper the whole time, which it shows us how
he can’t rely on himself, so when ever he looks at the paper to read from it, people might getting lose their
attention and attraction to continue listening his words. Eventually the speaker managed to leave a footprint by a
nice closure “the difference between triumph and defeat you'll find isn't about your willingness to take the risk
in the first place it's about mastery of rescue afterwards”

4. Think about one of the decisions the speaker made in this speech. How do you think he/she came to
that decision? Would you have made the same decision? Why or why not? You must use 2 correct
examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from
Unit 4 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

When the speaker graduated from medical school, he spent some time thinking through, so he had decided to
specialize in this particular area of surgery. The speaker on his internship he was enthralled by surgeons, and he
thought that it will be hard, but he had found how it’s relevant to real life such as teaching, and he said the only
thing is needed is to practice. If it was up to me, I wouldn’t take the same decision to become a surgeon like
him, because he mentioned about Mrs. C was a rare case and dangerous one, and I won’t take a risk to put
someone life in a danger.
5. Think of one of the main points of the speaker in this speech. Do you think his/her point is based on
truth or myth. Why? You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1
correct example of functional language from Unit 5 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the
audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

The speaker mentioned a scenario of a patient called Mrs. C an she lost a vision in one eye, but the surgery had
to be done and there was no problem, within a week she came back to see again. One time she felt and a later on
she complained about having trouble and pain in her stomach, but it wasn’t obvious as everything was normal.
This situation was intuitively true, but there were no evidences to prove that. In fact, the doctor was ought to let
her know and spill the beans about her rare condition. After all the doctor managed to help her and heal here,
withing two weeks she came back to work normally.

6. Choose an interesting quote from the speech. What do you think led the speaker to say that? What is
the intended result of saying it? You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of
grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 6 in your answer. Provide evidence or
examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

The speaker chose a line by the poet Robert Browning with one small change “I've replaced his word man
which in this time was taken to mean human being with the word him with the word woman may I say”. He
chose this quote because then an atomic bomb was dropped on the people of Hiroshima that envisioned by a
woman called Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley while/ it resulted in many deaths on average 100,000 people. When
the speaker mentioned a word woman in spite of man it was a distant memory that led him to say and quote of
what happened.
7. What do you think the speaker’s opinion about risk is? Explain. You must use 2 correct examples of
vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 7 in your
answer. Provide evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

The speaker presumed these days the relationships are all about either having sex or money or power. We all
know women are the main problem in our life and we need to take time out from their discussions and needs.
The speaker at first, he changed every man word into a woman and making her that she’s everything, but
where’s the logic in that? The speaker was convinced after the atomic bomb that have been dropped, women
having played us like what Mary Shelley did. The speaker having told us that he would like to let a woman take
a control, but this is a risk we can’t manage due to a woman is acting on her feelings, wherever men act based
on logic and mind.
8. Choose one of the speaker’s points about working, studying, travelling, or relaxing. Respond to the
speaker with your own opinion. You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of
grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 8 in your answer. Provide evidence or
examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

Dr. Bullock wasn’t going to be mentioned by the speaker, but the professor was to have made him excited to be
alive, that’s true. Once I had a teacher and once, I have met her for the first time she was angry and out of her
mind. She used to teach us English and the book was too old it dates back to my grandfather time. This teacher
saw the innocent part of me, and she was nice to me because I treated her back with the same way back.
Eventually when I grew up and remember the times, she was taking care of me and worked hard to let me learn
English properly, I thank her in deep down of my heart and she’s the one who made me excited to be alive.

9. Would you try any of the speaker’s ideas? Why or why not? You must use 2 correct examples of
vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 9 in your
answer. Provide evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150 words)

The speaker ideas were almost all about women taking control as if they were known everything, and you can
call me “anti- feminist”. It’s about time people realized women can’t take control on anything and for me I
wouldn’t try any of the ideas that the speaker told us about, because it’s risky and a 99% world is going to end
before 2020 finishes us. Thinking of letting woman take control was a total waste of time, these types of things
shouldn’t be opened neither discussed at all. The person who decided that men is going to be taking control, I’m
pretty sure he’s always coming up with novel ideas. Women take control is a ridiculous idea.

10. Does the speaker give any ideas that could help your dreams come true? Explain. You must use 2
correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language
from Unit 10 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the audio to support your answer. (100-150
words)

The speaker not once gave any idea that would help me achieving my dreams, and in matter of fact nothing like
the ideas that I’m planning to start with even. The speaker kept saying how we change the world by changing
man word into woman, what if he supported my ideas? I’m pretty sure he would forget that there’s a second
gender out here. When I try to present my ideas to the world, I would like to be the center of attention. I’m set
on to achieve my idea that’s related to my major by improving the efficiency of PV panels.

1. What are some of the most striking and evocative points in the essay? What do they make you think
of? You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of
functional language from Unit 1 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your
answer.
The striking point that been talked about by his father was “a world he fears has a dark and difficult future – if it
has a future at all.” This was his father perspective of what the future is holding for us, but I’m over-ambitious, I
believe that the future is going to be more productive and new things will come up that would always help us to
figure out how to deal with our problems in life. It seems to me that the future isn’t going to be scary as we
imagine that it would be, it’s always going to be us in our hands of either we move forward or just destroy
everything we build by being savage and naive.

2. Would you consider the author of the essay wise? Why or why not? You must use 2 correct examples of
vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 2 in your
answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.

The author showed us how he was so wise by not listening to his father of what future and generations hold for
us. When his father was scared of the future or if there’s a future, the author believed that tomorrow is going to
be a better day, which he will take the advantage of the opportunities. The author didn’t have second thoughts
like what would his father had; he saw the light in the darkness. The decided to believe in this world, and from
what I can say is the future is brighter than the present. This is how the author been wised of what he should be
scared or just believe in the future.

3. Make a suggestion or proposal to the author of the essay. You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary,
2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 3 in your answer.
Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.
Let’s look at it another way, the author is convinced that he would never learn as much as he wanted, which is
true, but he decided to keep learning and that’s lower-grade his anxiety, and he described his job that’s exciting,
picturesque, and magnificent. I see the author smart of how he was describing his situation and his place in the
world, but he must know that nothing is easy to get, even the knowledge that he seeks for might not be true or
might be difficult to reach, the way he described it that it’s easy to learn, which isn’t true.

4. Which social issue do you think is the most important to the author of the essay? Why? You must use 2
correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language
from Unit 4 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.

“I have spent all of my professional life in public service. Most of it involved in research, care of patients, and
public health policy concerning the HIV-AIDS epidemic.” The author mentioned that he has been working in
public service, but he knew deep down it was going to become (a kind of) public health catastrophe
(introductory it + lexical chunks), but the author is professional physician who specializes in this particular area
of curing people. According to the author experiments and labs, without a shadow of a doubt, I’d trust him
because the job was destined and was perfectly matched to his training.

5. Do you think the author is keeping any secrets? Why or why not? What kind? You must use 2 correct
examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from
Unit 5 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.

The author didn’t keep any secrets and the reason why I say that, because she was telling a story of her life
which already happened and it hadn’t any mysterious sides to not tell. The author was obliged to publish the
book of her mother as soon as she could, and it was possible by reaching a family book who published several
books before. The author was so close of not being able to publish the book but she verified it by showing it to
her mother before she died. The author found out that life is about opportunities and everything can be
accomplished and not finding a solution isn’t an option.
6. Consider one of the main issues of the essay. What do you think the situation will be like in the future?
You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of
functional language from Unit 6 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your
answer.

The author found out that it’s hard to publish one book, and in the future publishers will be replacing by robots,
which see how humans live their lives and write a story about it within seconds and being published. Robots are
going to do most of the jobs that human beings are doing it now in present, it’s because of robots have less
errors and faster in doing any job they are assigned for. Robots will have command language which they will be
ordered and controlled, not like a human who has a dignity of not doing something dirty or below their levels.
In present humans are in control but later on, in the future robots will be in charge.

7. Tell the author your opinion about the main issue discussed in the essay. You must use 2 correct
examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from
Unit 7 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.
Family always come first in my opinion, and the main bond of every family is mutual love between others.
Encouraged by the author’s father before he died, love your brother and sisters, and do what you keep doing.
When the author went into her father for the first time on deathbed, he was sort of dead, he couldn’t talk or
speak out until the next day right away before his last moments. Over-protectiveness on their dad by children
were good thing, and I couldn’t agree more because he’s the father of the family. When the father was barely
speaking out, he has been told have a breath then spit it out. It was only when he spoke the father died right
away.

8. Do you think the issue discussed in the essay is more relevant to societies in the past, present, or
future? Why? You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct
example of functional language from Unit 8 in your answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to
support your answer.

The issue was discussed in the past of how the author experienced the death of her father such as she was going
through a movie. The essay is more relevant to all situations either past, present, or future, because you can’t
escape death, and death is always around. Specially how the father said love each other, such as telling the
societies love each other to have a safe life, and that’s true. When the father almost died this is when the last
time, he wished had more time to himself. he spoke his last words just on time before he died, when he was
supposed to witness the love in the family more.

9. Is the essay inspirational? Why or why not? You must use 2 correct examples of vocabulary, 2 correct
examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 9 in your answer. Provide
evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.
The essay was inspirational to the point I can’t describe, because myself I play games too and I want to teach
my children to play games instead of hanging out and getting in trouble. It’s an unconventional and offbeat way
to teach your children the life aspects throughout games, specially the games that’s touchable and can be hold as
if they were experienced it in real life situations. I wish I was the one who my father taught me from the
beginning playing games, but eventually I took a turn and learnt them by myself. When my father bought my
PlayStation, he thought it was a total waste of money, but it turns out it’s useful and children can learn from it.
The author itself is teaching her children the life aspects through games too.

10. Briefly describe a pro and con of the author’s main belief. You must use 2 correct examples of
vocabulary, 2 correct examples of grammar, and 1 correct example of functional language from Unit 10 in your
answer. Provide evidence or examples from the essay to support your answer.

What could be better than teaching your own children the way of reading listening and strategic things through
games. One of the pros that he can shoot to fame through streaming while he playing and earn real money, that
would be difficult for me because of I waste my time and didn’t focus on it. While he playing strategic games,
he will learn how to be tactful in making decisions. He can’t be famous and earn money from one night, only
later after he gains some views will start the business. It would be significantly more work to do than what you
think, but with focus it’s doable and achievable. The only cons I’m thinking about is damaging his eyes after
years by playing so much, he will barely can see without glasses, so he need to pay attention and play safe.
Writing Section
Choose one of the following options.
1. Write a personal story. Follow the guidelines on page 97 lessons 11. Correctly use 1 vocabulary word from
each unit of the textbook and 1 grammar point from each unit of the textbook. Highlight your vocabulary and
grammar examples. You will be assessed on the guidelines from page 97, grammar, vocabulary, punctuation,
and capitalization. The story should be 500-600 words.
Me and my friends were in my house upstairs and suddenly some clamors were going on down stairs, it was getting
stronger and stronger, and it grabbed my attention and all the others. Immediately, I sat up in my couch, I was
frightened; I didn't have a clue what that clamor could be. I think the clamors are a reveal of closets opening and closing.
I had become more inquisitive to what or who was making these clamors. Quickly I went after my shirt, which was laying
on my hanger and put it on as fast as I could, making no sound in order not to bring attention to me despite of what
happening down steps. Unexpectedly I heard a clamor of closet shutting so loud and the noises reached its peak. As of
now I wished I wouldn't need to be separated from everyone else. I realized someone might found ancient vase in my
living room. I asked myself who is that individual that is looking through my closets? What he is searching for? What will
occur? Am I going to get injured? This inquiry continued rehashing in my mind again and again. I realized what I needed
to do. My interest had taken the best of me, I needed to go down steps regardless of what to know the individual who is
searching through my closets. Presently I had the fearlessness to get down. I was at the head of my steps and I realized I
needed to go down quietly like a cat, yet I was anxious about the possibility that that he would commit a crime if he
already didn’t and execute me. I was in at risk and I could barely clutch the railing on the grounds that my hands were
shaking so seriously. I was attempting to be as very as could be expected under the circumstances so I didn't upset
whoever or whatever was down steps. As I went down the steps all I needed to do was to run back to my room and stow
away under the spreads, were I will be sheltered. In any case, I realized I couldn't run and I needed to discover the thing
or the individual who was in my home and what the heck where they doing in there? As I was about going to go down
the steps gradually individually I felt so terrified, my heart was pounding and my entire body was shaking, what ought to
have taken a couple of moments appeared to be taking everlastingly, the steps continued endlessly, it seemed like hours
before I at last arrived at the base. I have come up with a plan to stand up for him or whatever that is inside my home.
That night I forgot to lock the door and I knew it there’s someone, but eventually I saw a tiny small body black cat
running over the tables eating the leftover food but she was running and it appeared she was breaking the vases and hit
the chair “it’s so light” that I thought it’s the closet sound. Once we made eye contact me and the cat, I said you are
going to pay your due kitty and she ran then just left without confronting me about what she did, what a rude animal.

2. Write an “I Believe” story similar to the ones that you read in the Reading Section. Follow these guidelines:
Tell a story about you: Be specific. Take your belief out of the ether and ground it in the events that have
shaped your core values. Consider moments when belief was formed or tested or changed. Think of your own
experience, work, and family, and tell of the things you know that no one else does. Your story need not be
heart-warming or gut-wrenching—it can even be funny—but it should be real. Make sure your story ties to the
essence of your daily life philosophy and the shaping of your beliefs.
Be brief: Your statement should be between 500 and 600 words. That’s about three minutes when read aloud at
your natural pace.
Name your belief: If you can’t name it in a sentence or two, your essay might not be about belief. Also, rather
than writing a list, consider focusing on one core belief.
Be positive: Write about what you do believe, not what you don’t believe. Avoid statements of religious dogma,
preaching, or editorializing.
Be personal: Make your essay about you; speak in the first person. Avoid speaking in the editorial “we.” Tell a
story from your own life; this is not an opinion piece about social ideals. Write in words and phrases that are
comfortable for you to speak. We recommend you read your essay aloud to yourself several times, and each
time edit it and simplify it until you find the words, tone, and story that truly echo your belief and the way you
speak.

Correctly use 1 vocabulary word from each unit of the textbook and 1 grammar point from each unit of the
textbook. Highlight your vocabulary and grammar examples. You will be assessed on the preceding guidelines,
grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and capitalization. The essay should be 500-600 words.
Speaking Section

the recording onto your private Teams channel. Each answer should be approximately 1 minute for a total of
five minutes or so. You will be graded on proper grammar, suitable vocabulary, clear speech, pronunciation,
and comprehension
