On Proper Segregation
Implementation Group/Unit
This study will be conducted by the students of Literacy Training Service (LTS)
from College of Business and Management. Which composed of the following students:
Project Duration
This study will be conducted after the survey questionnaire was analyzed. The
survey questionnaire will be given to the respondents on the first day of immersion
(February 28, 2019). And this project is estimated to be implemented on latter date and
ends on the last day of immersion It will be starting from March 2, 2019 and ends on
May 4, 2019.
This project aims to teach young children or youth to properly segregate their
maximize its potential use for productivity and profitability of that area.
Project Description
Since the beginning of time, people have needed to find a way of disposing of their
trash” (Bassis, 2000). Proper garbage disposal is important to ensure everyone's safety
from possible health hazards. The improper waste disposal of garbage is a major
sociological problem today due to its capability of contaminating the area in which we
live and it’s potential to be lethal to all living things. Its effects increase the risk of
adverse health effects in humans and animals, causes damage to eco-systems and
accelerate the destruction of our environment. The more waste we generate, the more
contemporary society, dating from the industrial revolution in order to fulfill its most
resources end up with prominent problems regarding solid waste generation and
Waste is more easily recognized than defined. Something can become waste
when it is no longer useful to the owner or it is used and fails to fulfill its purpose
(Gourlay, 1992). According to Miller (1988), solid waste is any useless, unwanted or
discarded material that is not liquid or gas. A great mixture of substances including fine
dust, cinder, metal, glass, paper and cardboard, textiles, putrescible vegetable materials
control. In the Philippines, there are no longer enough convenient holes in the grounds
into which to tip unwanted matter (Gourlay, 2010). It lacks appropriate storage facilities,
Even though, the integrated solid waste management has been strongly promoted
impacts such as pollution of air, soil and water. It may also result to health and safety
problems such as disease spread by insects and rodents via garbage heaps and
Local authorities are charged with the responsibility of providing solid waste
management services together with other municipal services. However they find it
increasingly difficult to play this role. The difficulty has been aggravated by lack of
effective legislation, inadequate funds, inadequate facilities and poor leadership within
the municipality.
Uncontrolled dumping of solid waste can lead to wastage of land where lots of land
is being used as dumping sites. These same pieces of land could later on be neglected
Waste management can be done poorly, in a way that harms the environment, or
it can be taken care of in a manner that makes the Earth cleaner and healthier. When
done properly, waste management and recycling can eliminate waste and minimize the
intensity of greenhouse gases. The planet benefits from less methane and carbon
Proper safety measures and waste disposal methods make for a cleaner, safer
world with less diseases and lower potential harm to both humans and animals. It
eliminates waste found in streets and canals which reduces the effect of floods when
occur. It also helps the community to be responsible to the waste they consume. And
most importantly it hels to reserve our earth to be clean and less ollutant for the benefit
of the future,
d. Coverage
The project scope is limited only to the area where the implementing units
surveys on how well a certain community do a proper waste disposal. Through this the
researcher can easily determine a certain area that needs improvement. This survey
must be conducted later before the project is implemented. After the data was analyze
the researcher will conduct the proper solid waste management by orienting, guiding
and teaching the residence of the assigned area the proper way to segregate and
dispose waste.
