CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research design, respondents, statistical treatment and
instruments used in the collection and analysis of data.

Research Design
The researchers will use a descriptive-analytic design to determine the level of awareness
of the tricycle drivers of Urdaneta City Poblacion TODA in terms of road signs and traffic rules.
The researchers also wants to measure if they really apply their knowledge on their day to day
work or not. They made the first part of the questionnaires for the respondents to state their
personal profile (name, age, gender, route and working hours). This questionnaire also uses a
likert Scale type of questionnaire to determine their awareness on the road signs. Pictures are
presented and shown to determine if they are aware and capable to decipher them (Aware, not
very aware, not aware and not pinapansin them). On the part of determining their awareness in
the traffic rules and regulations, sample rules and regulations are presented may it be a question
or a statement. After that, the respondents will be asked to answer a five-point scale ranging from
(1) no aware at all to (5) Fully aware. To be able to answer if they apply them or not, another
likert-scale will be used ranging from (1) never to (4) often. These questions are designed to
determine if the problem was on the road signs or it is really on the tricycle drivers of Urdaneta
City, Pangasinan TODA.
Data
Simple Random Sampling will be used as sampling method which the respondents will
be pick randomly from the population.

The chosen respondents in the study will be the tricycle drivers in Barangay Poblacion,
Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. The survey will be given to 80 respondents out of 100 using the
Slovin’s formula. Wherein the Slovin’s Formula was used as such:

Solution:
Where:
N N
n= n= number of samples n=
1+ Ne2 1+ Ne2
N= total population

e= margin of error n= 2
1+(100)(.05 )

n= 80
Data Gathering Instruments

In this study, a survey questionnaire will be use. This is in the form of a checklist wherin
the respondents will check a box which corresponds on the given instructions. The answers are
going to be quantitative.

Urdaneta City, Pangasinan will consist of: (1) the awareness on the street/traffic signs (a)
common signs (b) uncommon signs. (2) the awareness on traffic rules and regulations. The
