Working to a

Brief
CREATIVE MEDIA SECTOR
In most roles at some point during your
career you will be assigned a brief. This
aspect of the project gives you the
opportunity to evidence your ability to
respond to a brief in a professional,
creative & appropriate manner.
In the creative industry there are
different types of brief that you will
come across. Today we will be
thinking about the conventions of
these briefs so that you understand
how to appropriately respond to a
specific brief in your career in the
future.
Work in groups to:

Plan a response to either the Nike of H&M brief. Discuss and

note down ideas, write/draw up your initial idea in response
to the brief you have been assigned.

Individually add a new subheading to your Project 2 page on

wix... 'Responding to a Brief'

Under your new subheading document and visualise your

ideas and response to the brief you have been assigned. This
section should show the development of your ideas including
the following:
1. Overview of your campaign video idea
2. The purpose of the video
3. The audience you will be targeting
4. The resources such as talent, costume, props, locations &
specific kit you will need to create your idea
5. A rough indication of how much your idea will cost to
make
6. Production time i.e. how long you will need to produce the
final video
Share your ideas to the class

Now that you've developed some initial ideas in response to

the brief, let's discuss how easy it was to develop an idea
based on the information that you were given in the brief.
What information do we
need in a brief so that we
can respond appropriately?

- Overview of project
- Purpose of product
- Key messages
- Target audience
- Brand identity and values
- Tone
- Budget
