MARKETING ASPECT
IV. Marketing Aspect

In project feasibility, marketing aspect is considered the most important

because it requires discreet analysis of the business’ total demand and supply.

This chapter will discuss the demand analysis, supply analysis, demand and

supply gap analysis, marketing program and projected sales

A. Industry Description

Public transportation is focusing on buses, trains, planes and ferries/boats,

whether used for the daily commute or just to get around. In Metro Manila

alone, travel by public transport accounts for 69% of the total number of trips

taken every day, with buses and jeeps accounting for 71% of these trips,

according to a study by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

According to rappler, with transport-related emissions expected to increase by

57% worldwide between 2005 to 2030, and as the Asian region undergoes rapid

urbanization, the Philippines recognizes that “any serious reform” in the transport

sector will have to include major changes in current existing systems.

Policymakers are shifting to the idea that the goal is to move more people

instead of moving more cars. One cause of traffic congestion is the oversupply of

private vehicles crowding limited road space. The DOTC believes that one

solution to address this is to take private cars off the roads and get car owners to

take mass transit instead. The rationale: private cars carry only around 3 or 4

passengers, as opposed to buses which take up more road space yet carry 60 or

more passengers. But to entice car owners to take the bus, the DOTC has to
convince them that bus travel is cheaper, convenient, and faster than using

private cars. In recent months, the department has introduced the express bus

and the point-to-point bus systems. Unlike ordinary city buses, these buses make

limited or no stops at all between origin and destination, shaving off an estimated

30 minutes of travel time. The fares may be more expensive than that of regular

city buses, but, the DOTC reasons, it’s still cheaper compared to paying for gas

and parking.

Local buses run all throughout the city, connecting major destinations in

Makati and other districts of Metro Manila. Buses are also a good option for long-

distance travels. In addition, public transportation allows you to relax, read or nap

during that commute instead of fighting and stressing and feeling the road rage.

B. Target Market

Pioneer Luxury Transport Service, Inc. would serve those people who will

travel from Manila to Baguio and vice versa. The target market of the business

are the students, employed, unemployed, self-employed, male or female.In order

to determine the potential demand of establishing a bus terminal with a route

Manila to Baguio and vice versa, the proponents considered the passengers that

travel in the said route as the target market.

C. Market Research

a. Research Methodology

In order to study the frequencies, averages and other statistical

calculations the proponents used the descriptive method of research. They also

use quantitative method since it focuses on gathering numerical data using a

survey questionnaire as their tool.

b. Sampling Technique

The researcher’s used purposive sampling as a technique in getting the

sample. They rely on their own judgment in choosing members of population to

participate in the study. They utilized the sloven’s formula to get the appropriate

sample size that will be the respondents of the study for their survey.

Sloven’s Formula:

N
n= 2
(1+e )

989150
n=
[1+ ( 989150 ) ( .052 ) ]

n = 399.838 400

Where in:

n = Sample size
N = Population size
e (margin of error) = 5% or .05
Based on the computations above, the researchers came up a 400

sample size for 989,150.

c. Formula

Possible Demand (Year) = N * M.A * F

Where:

N = Population

M.A = Market Acceptability

F = Frequency

In projecting market growth, demand and supply, the method used

is statistical straight line method.

n ∑ ty−∑ t ∑ y ∑ y −b ∑ t
b= 2 A=
2
n ∑ t −( ∑ t) n

Yc = A + bt

Where:

n = No. of years

t = year index

y = population

Yc = Possible Demand

d. Respondents of the Study

The respondents of this study are the passengers with a route

Manila to Baguio. The respondents serve as the primary source in

gathering information that has greatest impact in the completion of the

study.
The collected data of passengers with a route Manila to Baguio has

a total projected population of 2,710 per day or 989,150 in a year.

SOCIO ECONOMIC
ASPECT
VII. Socio – Economic Aspect

Pioneer Luxury Transportation Service does not only focus on how

profitable the business would be but also how it will help in the society in terms of

social and economic aspect. The proponents analyze the impacts of the business

to physical and non-physical environmental aspects.

A. To assess the project economic worth to the country

Pioneer Luxury Transport Services will contribute to our country’s

economy, by fulfilling its duties as a business structure that complies with the

mandates of the government. Contribute to increase our economic rate by

presenting the best service to our customers that will lead to high revenues and

demand that’ll bear new job openings for the Filipino people.

B. Evaluates the project’s economic benefits

1. Environmental benefits

Public transportation provides many mobility, safety, and economic

benefits to people and businesses, is also an immediate way to conserve energy

and support our environment. People who use public transportation remove

single-passenger vehicles from the road, which leads to improved air quality,

stimulation of local economies and a business center, reduce road congestion,

and lessens environmental damage.For every passenger mile traveled, in a bus

is twice as fuel efficient as private automobiles.

Beyond those key benefits, it also offers significant environmental

advantages that contribute to a better quality of life. Buses use less fuel per

person than other modes of transportation according to the Person-Miles per

Gallon. Also, it reduces road congestion because public transit carries many

passengers on a single vehicle, it can reduce the number of vehicles, the level of

traffic noise, and the amount of tailpipe emissions associated with those vehicles.

By reducing the amount of emissions from transportation in dense urban areas,

public transportation can help cities to reduce smog, to meet air quality

standards, and to decrease the health risks of poor air quality to their residents

2. Health Effects

Pioneer Luxury Transport Services bus has good health effects to people

because they provide healthy delicious food, great accommodation in a fast and

safe travel. Traveling inside the bus that serves restaurant food and has a

bathroom lessens not only stop overs, travel time and also carbon emission. .

Premises are non- smoking areas that encourage retiring from nicotine and clean

unpolluted air.

The company uses environmental psychology by combing rustic, modern

and Filipino style interiors in both the terminals and inside of the bus to create a

comfortable and relaxing environment, complimented with good accommodation.

That can improve an individual’s emotional and mental state. Also by introducing

vegetation in the aesthetics like kokodamas it keeps temperature down, reduces

dust level and pollutants.

C. Assessment of project impacts to physical and non-physical

environmental aspects

1. Physical (Water, Air, Land)

With the launching of the Pioneer, there were no harms occurred in

pre-existing biodiversity’s in the surrounding areas since the locations of

the terminal had preceding structures and renovations did not include

expansion than the preceding layout. Pioneer also encourage to be an

environment friendly company that enthusiastically supports waste

management and embodies the 3R’s concept reuse, reduce and recycle,

all employees are trained on proper waste disposal, and engage in

environmental activities such as tree planting, upcyling, and fundraisers

for saving coral reef ,etc.

2. Biodiversity

Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no

matter how small, all have an important role to play, biodiversity typically

measures variation at the genetic ,species and ecosystem level. Pioneer

being a transport service company strategically schedules travel trips to

lessen carbon emission to minimize the effects that it can cause to

biodiversity’s. The company also supports trainings organized by the local

government on how to maintain and preserve biodiversity’s, engages in

environmental activities.
3. Nuances (Noise, Odors)

Automobiles are known to be one of man kind’s greatest inventions, giving

us the convenience traveling and transportation. A bus is a road vehicle designed

to carry a large number of passengers in private or public means of

transportation. But with pro’s also comes with con’s, with automobiles being

powered with diesel or gas, combustion of these fluids not only creates energy

but also fumes that pollutes the environment and sometimes generates loud

engine sounds that results into nuances. Pioneer being a Luxury Transport

Service has four newly made units that are in good condition and would not

create dark fumes, and pioneer having maintenance program would make sure

that all units are clean, in good shape and would not create any nuisance.

4. Safety

The company is dedicated to provide a safe working environment. That

ensures the customers and the employee’s safety and prevents exposures to

hazards. Safety programand training are held to equip employees with the

procedures and work practices for controlling exposure to hazards, employees

understand hazards and safe work procedures, where personal protective

equipment is required, employees understand the requirement, the reasons for it,

the limitations of the equipment, and how to maintain and use it properly.
5. Aesthetics, Cultural and historical heritage

Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes

of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the

present and preserved for the benefit of future generations. The company

ensures that the values and gift of the past generation is being uphold, treasured

and appreciated.Pioneer Luxury Transport Services pays homage to the

community, by incorporating 30% Filipino aesthetic interiors such as local

materials, painting and art pieces by local artist inside of the bus and the

stationary terminals. Pioneer being a transport service would also promote the

local sceneries, and show our valued Filipino hospitality through our great

accommodation and customer service.
