Campaign Speech 2018

Good Morning,

Thank you to my family, friends, and campaign staff for joining me today.

I am Pasha Baker and I am announcing my official Mayoral Candidacy for the City of
Sanford.

A great city is measured by the quality of the lives of the people who live in it. Now is
the time for Servant Leadership, Now is the time for Community, now is the Time to do
what is Right!

Its time for Sanford to take its rightful place as the crown jewel of Seminole County.

I live on the other side of this park, I was educated by Seminole County Public School
System, from Pine Crest Elementary, Sanford Middle School, and the best High School
this side of the St. John’s River; Seminole High School.

I am a Servant Leader who has the experience and sound judgement to heal old wounds
and Execute Solutions.

I am blessed to call Sanford Home and I want to continue to serve this great city.

I am proud of my service thus far and I have experience where it counts, right here in my
hometown, Sanford. I am proud of the Boards and Committees, I have helped to lead and
the differences we have made.

My Service to Sanford includes Economic Development:

The Goldsboro Heritage & Art Garden provides fresh farm-to-table fruits and vegetables
for Six downtown Sanford Restaurants. The all organic crops contain no pesticide,
fertilizer, or hormones, and travels less than a mile to its final destination thus minimizing
Sanford carbon footprint. The harvest that is not sold to restaurants to support the
Association is given away to the community for Free. The Garden is multi-fold:

1. Helps us decrease Diabetes and Heart Disease within Sanford. 2. Supports Small
Business
3. Reduces Carbon Emissions
4. Supports Arts & Culture

My Service to Sanford includes Education:

As a Board Member of the Seminole County Public School Board- Business Advisory
Board and the Chair of the ePathways committee, we implemented the following steps
to ensure that alternative students, High School students not college bound, High School
dropouts, and GED Holders will be able to find employment through vocational and
skilled trade programs.

The following 4 items were implemented for Juniors/Seniors in Seminole County Public
Schools

1. Strategy for best placement of Student Interns

2. Create a pipeline of talent/jobs businesses in Seminole County
3. Create like job groups ex. Construction Group or Technology Group 4. Purposeful
jobs/careers after High School

My Service to Sanford includes Cultural Tourism:

As the Director & CEO of Goldsboro West Side Community Historical Association, Inc.
we have used Arts & Culture to improve communication between members of our
community and to also create jobs through Cultural Tourism.

My Service to Sanford includes our Youth:

I have worked with many organizations to improve our Community, in 2017, I

collaborated with Central Florida Community Arts to provide over 200 children in
Sanford a Free 1 Week Summer Camp. Studies show that children that are exposed to
the Arts have less behavioral challenges in school and are more successful academically.

My Question, to everyone today, if it takes a Village to Raise a Child….What does it take

to Raise a City?

Change won’t come from one person – it will take all of us. I believe in collaboration, I
didn’t wake myself up, the Good Lord did that, I didn’t make my green juice myself, the
Nutri- Bullet and the groceries from Wal-Mart did that. You see, all of the resources, the
talents, the ideas of this great, diverse, energetic city, will be needed to raise Sanford to
it’s rightful position on the Throne and the Crown Jewel of Seminole County. I’m asking
for you to join me in raising this Great City.

My campaign motto is by the Great Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “The time is
always right to do what is right”. The time is right now for Sanford and the time is right
now to Elect Me as your next Mayor!
