Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):
☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding ☒ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This activity and the padlet together allows for each student that may learn in different ways to learn their
letters using environmental print. Students have pictures to help assist them with the letters in chronological
order and will also have help from peers and the teachers.

Lesson idea implementation: Entering the classroom the students will have to find the first letter of their
name out of the basket of letter in the front of the classroom and find a environmental print that starts with
the letter of their name of the next basket. The students will read a story during large groups on
environmental print and what it is. After story time we will chart some of the print that we read and the
letters that it began with and other environmental print they see daily. During small groups, the first group
will be with a teacher using padlet, the activity will be student centered but the teacher will be available with
any assistance needed. The second group will be teacher lead with the students with the students creating
their own alphabet print book. The third group which the students will be by their self will use letter blocks to
create environmental print words, using pictures to assist. The alphabet books will be used in the library
center for center time and the padlet will be available also at these times. Students learning will be assessed
at the end of the week to see the progress, teachers will use an assessment to check the knowledge of the
alphabet. This lesson will last a week, once assessed at the end of the week the teacher will then break
students into groups and assist further during small groups. This lesson will last until we finish through the
alphabet and creating our alphabet books.

Reflective Practice: This activity will help students identify letters, environmental print and fine motor skills
(typing). I believe the lesson will be very effective because students will notice things they see during their
everyday life and connect it with letters.
