Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering X Understanding ☐ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

X Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation: The teachers will first introduce the students to what the word “family” means.
After the students and teacher discuss what a family is using a Think-Pair-Share assessment, the teacher will
emphasize that each family member has a different name. The teacher will explain that the students will be
learning about the different names and family members in farm families. The teacher will then have the
students listen to and read the Farm Families PowerPoint Ebook.

The reading and listening of the Ebook should only take a few minutes. After the students complete the
reading of the book, they will be asked to match the names of the animals using a word bank and pictures.
Differentiated supports are available via the word bank and pictures. Students who are more proficient and
are in need of a more challenging activity may just be provided pictures and asked to label them. This will also
be the tool used to assess the students. The lesson will be concluded by having students draw and label their
favorite Farm Family.

Reflective Practice: I believe the activity I made will help students differentiate animals as different species as
well as determining how age is relevant in the naming of the animal. Since this is an introductory activity to
compare similarities and differences in groups of organisms, I could extend the learning by asking students to
recall their favorite animal and make a Prezi presentation on how they are different from farm families as well
as the names of each member of their chosen animal family.
