Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management
Studies was established in 2003 by Maharaja
Agrasen Technical Education Society. The
Society comprises of a group of  eminent
industrialists, educationalists and people
from different walks of life. The Society has
succeeded in establishing institutions of
repute in the areas of Management, Law,
Engineering and Journalism etc. The
Institute has attained a distinct position in
running BBA, B. Com(H), BA Eco(H),
BA(JMC), BALLB(Integrated) and BBA
LLB (Integrated) programmes affiliated
with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha

Maharaja Agrasen 1st National Moot Court
Competition, 2020  seeks to provide a
platform to the students across the nation to
showcase their advocacy and research skills
by competing in a professional and
competitive environment. The purpose of
organizing a moot court competition is to
help the participants in nurturing their
advocacy skills. In past, the Department of
Law, MAIMS organized their Virtual Trial
Advocacy Competition (2020) and previous
organized an Intra Trial Moot Court
Competition (2019).
INTRODUCTION
Moot court competitions provide an opportunity to the curious law students to
identify and redress the prospective legal issues presented as the moot problem. It
aims to weigh their problem solving skills, encourages them to take up on the tasks
of real lawyers and deepen their knowledge of various legislations. Moot courts
stimulate real life proceedings, push the boundaries of one's intellect, advocacy skills
and emphasizes on collective team effort. Moot courts competition provide a
foundation for students across different cities to compete and collaborate in a
professional setting, to finesse and test their skills before they join the legal fraternity
as the lawyers of tomorrow.

OBJECTIVES
• To facilitate practical learning and capacity building of the young law students
• To engage the youth into a learning outlet during the covid-19 pandemic
• To motivate law students all across India and to encourage holistic development of
their interpersonal and professional skills.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

I.PROGRAM DETAILS

1.1. Date & Venue


The Maharaja Agrasen 1st  National Moot Court Competition, 2020 will be held from
26th November 2020 to 28th November 2020 virtually over Google Meet.
1.2. Team Eligibility
1.2.1. The competition is open for students who are pursuing LLB three year / five-
year course during the current academic year.
1.2.2. Only one team is permitted to participate from each participating institution.
1.2.3. Each team shall consist of a minimum of two and maximum of three members.
This number cannot be modified under any circumstances.
1.2.4. In a team consisting of three members, two members shall be designated as
‘Speakers’ and the third member shall be designated as ‘Researcher’.
1.2.5. If a team consists of two members, then such team shall designate both the
members as speakers and no member in the team shall be allowed to be represented
as a researcher.
1.3. Registration
1.3.1. All the participating institutions have to confirm participation by sending a
duly filled Registration Form by email to mootcourtsociety@maims.ac.in on or
before 20th October, 2020.
Provided that if a team is unable to get Signature of Head of the Institution and
Seal of the Institution on the registration form, in such a case an approval letter
from the Institution containing names of all the participants shall be attached with
the registration form.
1.3.2. Upon successful Registration the teams will recieve notification from the
Moot court society via email to acknowledge their tegistration along with the fee
payment details latest on or before 22nd October,2020.
1.4 Payment Details
1.4.1. The participating Teams are required to pay INR 1,500/- as registration fees.
The link for online payment will be emailed to the Registered Teams.
1.4.2. Nonpayment of Registration Fees shall result in cancellation of Registration
of the Participating Team.
1.4.3. Soft Copy of the Receipt of the Online Payment shall be sent via email to
mootcourtsociety@maims.ac.in with the subject line ‘Maharaja Agrasen 1st
National Moot Court Registration’ latest by 27th October, 2020.

II. STRUCTURE OF COMPETITION

The Competition shall consist of four rounds:


2.1 The Preliminary Round;
2.2 The Quarter Final Round;
2.3 Semi Final Round; and
2.4 The Final Round
2.1. Preliminary Round
The preliminary round will be held on 27th November, 2020. All the teams will
compete twice in the preliminary round. After competing, best 8 teams will
advance to the quarter-final round.
2.2. Quarter-Final Round
The best eight teams will qualify for quarter-final, which will be held on 27th
November, 2020. After competing, top 4 teams will advance to the semi-final
round
2.3 Semi-Final Round
The best four teams will qualify for the semi-final, which will be held on 28th
November, 2020. After competing, top 2 teams will advance to the final round.
2.4. Final Round
The final round will be held on 28th November, 2020. The best two teams will
qualify for the finals. After competing, the team with the highest score will win the
competition.
III. AWARDS

Best Team: Rs. 20,000/- 


Runners Up: Rs. 15,000/- 
Best Speaker: Rs. 5,000/-
Best Researcher: Rs. 5,000/-
