REYNOLDS NUMBER
1.Wind Tunnel
To examine the flow of air in the wind tunnel is difficult. Therefore, we used Reynolds number to know if
the flow is laminar or turbulent. In wind turbine, our main purpose is to keep the flow laminar, for that by
finding just Reynold number we can easily do it. For Reynolds number we need Dynamic viscosity ,For any
fluid it is known next is characteristic length, this is measureable other is density, this is also constant for
incompressible fluid and the last we need velocity which can be easily find out using flowmeter or
rotameter.

2.Fountain
To know the height of the fountain water streamline. We can easily find the height by using Reynolds
number. If the Reynolds number is within the laminar flow the water, flow is Streamline whereas if the
Reynolds number beyond, the flow is turbulent. For Reynolds number we need Dynamic viscosity ,For any
fluid it is known next is characteristic length, this is measureable other is density, this is also constant for
incompressible fluid and the last we need velocity which can be easily find out using flowmeter or
rotameter.

3.Airplane Drag
It is very difficult to measure the drag friction in the fluid because the term use in drag friction in fluid is
difficult to calculate. Hence, in this case if we know the Reynolds number we can easily say the behaviour
of air around it. If the flow is turbulent, the drag force is more. Therefore, we try to make the flow laminar
to decrease the drag force in airplane. For Reynolds number we need Dynamic viscosity ,For any fluid it is
known next is characteristic length, this is measureable other is density, this is also constant for
incompressible fluid and the last we need velocity which can be easily find out using flowmeter or
rotameter.
