ABSTRACT

Electronic sports or E-SPORTS is a competitive video gaming at a professional

level and every year its audience is growing by the tens of millions. Four Hundred Fifty-

four million people is expected to watch E-Sports Events last 2019 and is expected to

grow for another two hundred million in just two years. With the total E-Sports revenue is

expected to hit 1.1 billion dollar in just a year it’s no surprise that there are new multi-

million dollar E-Sports Arena are popping out around the globe. And about fifty-seven

percent of E-Sports biggest enthusiasts are located right here at the Asia Pacific region.

Competitive Tournaments of Gaming Industry is a billion dollar rising industry

worldwide. Philippines, as it is today, is part of gaming community and made some bold

moves to increase the industries popularity within us. E-Sports, or competitive video

games, is one of the new crops of sports in this decade. In other countries this is already

a reality, but here in the Philippines, it’s still just emerging and our local government has

been issuing professional licenses for our players, and the country also included it as a

medal sport in the 30th SEA Games that we are hosting.

There is current consensus among leading economists both locally and abroad

that the Philippines is now in a very good position for an economic take-off. The country

is being given a lot of positive names lately; the “New Asian Tiger” is one of them. Some

of the factors that led to this is that the Philippines, which accounts for a decent number

of percent of the global animation, competitive video games, and game development

market helps in boosting the increasing number of Business Processing Outsourcing

(BPO) in the country.

Philippines have the tools and materials as well as the talent but the problem is

lack of facility that would house products in terms of animation, competitive gaming

tournaments and merchandise similar to other BPO’s around the country which deal with

ii
the production, preproduction and the postproduction. At present, there are several small

and medium studios in the country providing jobs to thousands of animation/gaming

professionals directly and indirectly involved in the field, but this is not enough for the

industry to see an increase and a more developed and higher income-generating revenue

for the economy. This research will help promote and market the country’s animation and

gaming industry including other organizations involved here and abroad by giving

opportunities to people interested in this aspect. It will also showcase the talents and work

of the Filipino people. As a result the study came up with the Proposed E-Sports Stadium

with Institute for Animation and Gaming Development that will create a common

background for the gaming and non-gaming enthusiasts.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The proponent would like to express her deepest gratitude to everyone who helped

her in making this research study possible. Above everything, the proponent

acknowledges the Almighty God for the strength he has blessed him and for not leaving

him alone all throughout this phase of his life. The proponent believes that nothing would

be possible if he had this battle alone.

The proponent is very grateful for all the support, whether financially, morally,

physically or spiritually, that came from his family. She recognizes the great effort of his

family on how they provide financial assistance for it is the struggle they face at the very

beginning of this study. He is very thankful for all the prayers they had given when finishing

this study seems very impossible.

To the greatest people he had met in college, the proponent is blessed to have

these people around him all throughout the completion of this project. Through thick and

thin, everything can be endured as long as these people are around the proponent. He is

grateful for all the memories they had shared and will share in the future.

To her classmates, ARC 5105, the proponent is blessed to have people like them

in his life. As the saying goes, quality over quantity. They may have been not more in

number, but the proponent guarantees that extreme happiness happens when they have

all the time to be together. This class may have faced all problems, but they stand firm to

continue their dreams in order to be in the respective profession.

To the instructors and faculty members of Architecture, Interior Design, and Fine

Arts Department, who played a big part in nourishing and enhancing the researcher’s

knowledge for the past years until the day that she is ready to face this bigger challenge

in his student life, thank you. They are the reason behind every challenge that the

iv
proponent tries to surpass, and the fulfilment of this thesis proposal is the greatest gift the

proponent could give back to them.

v
DEDICATION

In the fulfilment of this thesis proposal, the researcher would like to dedicate this

study to the following persons:
