The document provides a tutorial for using Workbench 17.2 software to generate a 3D curve from coordinate point data in a text file, and then use that curve to create a new part by revolving it around the y-axis. The tutorial instructs the user to open the software, import coordinate data from a sine_points.txt file to generate a 3D curve, name the curve, and then use the revolve tool applied to the y-axis to generate a new part from the curve.

3D CURVE Design modeler Goals: Utilize a 3D coordinate point file to generate a 3D curve. Use Sweep to create a new part from the curve. Open workbench software from your toolbar. ToolBox > Component System > Geometry (double click to add geometry to the Project) Right click in geometry > New DesignModeler Geometry Once DesignModeler is open change the units to millimeters. Concept > 3D curve o Details view > Details of curve 1 > Coordinates File > click in “…” to browse the file. In the browser look for the file “sine_points.txt” and open it.
Click in generate to generate the line.
Tools > Named Selection o In the tree outline select “line body” (under “1 part, 1 body”) o Click in apply in details window for geometry
Click in generate after you apply the named selection to the line Select the named selection that you created o Create (from the toolbar) > revolve
Once we had revolve in details of revolve
o Geometry > apply o Axis > y-Axis To select the y-axis, it could be possible we should select in de tree outline a YZ plane to get a better view. Then click in generate.
