Types of Text Definition - Examples
The descriptive text usually focuses on describing a single location, object, event, person, or place.
The explanation text tells your audience how something works or why something happens. It is about
actions rather than things.
The Argumentative text is a piece of writing that takes a stance on an issue. In this, a writer attempts
to persuade readers to understand and support their point of view about a topic by stating their
reasoning and providing evidence to back it up.
The narrative type of text tells a story that re-counts a series of events.
The girl said she was going to come back. The boy promised to wait. He sat on the dock and
waited. One day while he was waiting, he noticed another girl sitting and looking out to sea.
“Are you waiting too?” he asked. “Not anymore,” she said. They both smiled.

not force students to wear them. This idea is based on the fact that uniforms limit students’

Rain is the primary source of fresh water for most areas of the world, providing suitable
conditions for diverse ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop
irrigation. The phenomenon of rain is actually a water circle. The concept of the water cycle
involves the sun heating the Earth’s surface water and causing the surface water to evaporate.
The water vapor rises into the Earth’s atmosphere. The water in the atmosphere cools and
condenses into liquid droplets. The droplets grow until they are heavy and fall to the earth as
