Student Response and Assessment Tools

Lesson Idea Name: Civil War Review.

Content Area: Social Studies.

Content Standard Addressed: SS4H5 Explain the causes, major events, and consequences of the Civil War

Technology Standard Addressed: Empowered Learner, Students leverage technology to take an active role in
choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.

Selected Technology Tool:

☐ Socrative ☐ iRespond ☐ Quizlet ☐ Plickers ☒ Kahoot! ☐ Office365 Forms

Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):
☒ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☐ Applying ☒ Analyzing ☒ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☒ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

This SRS will be used during instruction and after to allow students to review over content given in class.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: During this activity students will listen to the
content given by teacher then the teacher will display a question that belongs to the content and students
will respond. Then teacher will move on to the next topic and display a different question.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☒ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? I will display the correct answers and explain why is it that answer to allow students to
memorize or write down so they can prepare.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity students will get in groups to discuss what they already knew, what they learned,
something that they still need to know, and the most interesting fact to them.
How will the data be used? The data collected will be used to determine which students need support. The
teacher will meet with each student and ask what can be done to support their learning. An anonymous
survey will also be done for students to rate the activity and give feedback for teacher.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

As a personal goal I am trying to use technology to help students prepare for an assessment. I hope this
activity engages all my students and encourages them to participate.
Reflective Practice:
I believe this activity impacts student learning because it allows all students to participate, it also engages
them in the lesson by letting them answer question through the lesson. This activity can serve as an
introduction for a project, for example a time line of the civil war.
