EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT

What if question:
What if the concept of Johari Window is applied in the life of all people?
what could be the possible outcome? Expound.
A Johari window is a psychological tool created by Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham in 1955. It’s a simple and
useful tool for understanding and training: self-awareness. Personal development. Improving communications.
If this tool is to be applied to all people then we might find conflicts regarding determining once inner self.
Definitely you are aware of yourself but sometimes knowing what others think of you can be constructive or
destructive to you. Nothing is true until you get close to someone. We are only given what we see and what we
want to see.

It’s not enough that we peak at the window but we should rather know what’s inside that window. If all of us
would use the concept of Johari window, we will have very limited knowledge of what ourselves really be. We
would be dependent on what others might think of us whereas we should be the one building our own strength.
Knowing what others thinks of us will definitely change our way of interacting with people. It is best if we do
things without constraints. Traits and expectations often limit us from what we should be. All of us have this
standards and most of the time what we say is what really happens. You can say that your assumptions about
that person isn’t positive and that person will be greatly affected of what he discovered from you. What we see
on someone is not what
actually is that person is. We are only limited to what we know and our knowledge of that person would be
further by being close to that person. Humanity knows about the manifestation of assumptions especially on
interactions. The Johari window tool is only a foresight on what we still don’t know and what we still have to
know. It’s not an accurate tool but it does enlighten the subject of his/her realizations.

In the end, the human personality will continue to develop and will continue to learn. The growth of this
mysterious aspect of behavior makes learning worthwhile. What you are today won’t be you are in the future.
Always try to think big of the picture. Don’t stay on the window too long. Try to walk outside. Feel the breeze
of freedom. Let your soul be with the winds. Be in touch with the unknown. Learn and fail. That’s how
humanity works. We are not supposed to be confined on a house. We are not supposed to be sitting by the
window, wondering what the world is. We must learn to be free and grow together with others.
UNDERSTANDING THE SELF
MODULE 1 WORKSHEET
INTROSPECTION is the capacity of an individual to examine his own thoughts. The focus of this self-
examination is in the present, not in the past. Now, try to ask and answer this question, “What can I do to make
this course effective on me?”

I will make this course effective on me by letting myself learn more. Wisdom begins with humility. I’ll learn
new things and will apply it to my life. No matter how things are complicated today, the pattern of movement
remains the same. Moving forward and not letting the past imprisoned you. I am uncertain about the future and
so does everyone. We can’t change the past but the present time will lead us to what we deserve. What we did
today will always reflect back to us. This course didn’t exist without reason. We must be aware that moral
values will always be as important as educational attainment. It’s not enough that you obtain a degree but must
also possess the heart that could help others.

Having enrolled in a business course was not my plan before. Actually none of my plans works. That’s fine
with me though, I guessed life can’t be plan. I wasn’t disappointed at all. I’m glad that I did make it here. I
know that it’ll be long and fulfilling journey. It’s just the beginning. This course they say is very useful and can
help obtain a decent job in public office. Well, I must admit, I am a bit scared at first. This course they say is
still studying accounting and I’m not good with the said subject. I do fear failing. Everyone does. This course is
still a mystery to me but I know that I wouldn’t be here without reason. I have failed many times so I am scared
of it. Yeah, I know I shouldn’t be dwelling on the past. Okay. Here it is. I am glad to be here. I have classmates
who are spontaneous and friendly. I didn’t find it hard to get along with them. Though it did feel nervous
because some of them came from private school and they seemed to be smart. They’re even talented and
gorgeous. I did feel shy and out of place for a while. It didn’t last long though. I’m doing well today because I
felt that I am not being outcast. It does help to have classmates like them. I hope that we maintain this
harmonious relationship

This course will be useful to me. The whole deal is up to me. I know that there’s a lot of things to do and I
know that what I’m doing today will help me. Though this path seems to be normal for everyone, for me this is
my everything. The efficiency of my decisions are still not visible yet. I’m just beginning. What in my thought
now can be change. One thing is certain. I will study hard. I will move forward. Nothing really matters but
accepting the truth. I don’t know about the future and so does everyone. This course will be effective for me
only if I choose to learn and grow. Learning is not enough, we must grow.
