I don’t like to share my personal life… it wouldn’t be personal if I shared it.

The advent of globalization gave birth to the Internet Age in which people follows what
is written or trend online and Internet makes a way for communication not just within the
country but to the whole world. This Internet open a lot of opportunities but unfortunately, this
can also cause some instances that a lot of people are really concerned, privacy and security.
Different researches and article have been made to give opinions and insights about what is
going on and suggestions to at least limit the said issue. Wince Chung and John Paynter,
researchers from Department of Management Science and Information System from the
University of Auckland made a study entitled Privacy Issues on the Internet on January 2002.
The paper was divided into different parts in which it was discussed and clearly examined
to further explain what the said issue all about. According to the author(s) privacy is the right to
be let alone and we can consider it invasions of privacy if an individual cannot maintain a
substantial degree of control over his/ her personal information. We can see examples in every
situation that we are using internet, we can be a victim without us knowing it; it is when we are
about to buy an item online or create an account for our social media account. The real issue here
is the fear that someone might misuse this personal information for his/ her own good such as
identity theft, used for marketing without the permission of the owner, or even the information
can be sold to third parties. As the issue became louder there are still many who are against on
this privacy concerns, but the action for the Internet Privacy concerns still stand. Since Internet is
international and actually a large unregulated thing that one country cannot control, we have to
acknowledge how important it is to protect someone and achieve a globally consistent manner
that he/she really deserves.
The paper also discusses some suggestions that may feed or tries to create solution
regarding the said issue. Legislation, because the government itself of different countries have to
be aware of different issues regarding the growth of Internet and is effects. They must advocate
that websites and others must not collect personal information without the consent of the person
herself/ himself. They must create a plan or public awareness for the people to know what they
must do and what’s the consequences of each violations. Self- regulation, in which we are the
holder of this “one- click mouse”; we are responsible in everything that we posted; and we
should be careful to share personal information that can be used against us. It also gives way on
how consumers control themselves in posting information that is really personal and sensitive.
The advancement of the technology itself can be a great contribution on making a solution to this
issue, in the 21st century in where I am a consumer I am more than aware we can now limit these
things and the internet itself will warn us if any malicious thing happens.
I have read different perspective on both stand regarding this issue, I do agree that as a
future teacher and to use internet safely we must consider the following advices that will
definitely help us in using our social media accounts or the technology itself. Also, businesses
will gain more profit if the consumers are really secure and fine in doing their business.
Fortunately, this era opens wide opportunity and rapid actions through the help of different ideas
around the world. In this way the public will be knowledgeable enough and acknowledge
different instances in using Internet.
 What lesson have you learned?
As a future educator, Internet is our double- edged sword that we can use to teach and to
make a difference in any educational setting. In plays a significant role and build a great
communication in both facilitator and student; it also serves as a foundation of prior knowledge
and a source of the new knowledge. Most importantly, we have to make sure that we know our
limitations in using this internet especially when we are too emotional or posting things that
should be tackle privately. We cannot delete or undo things if it is already posted there, we
cannot change everything if the whole world already saw what was written there. Privacy is
something like a glass of water, it is too sensitive and fragile. The government has his way to
help the consumers but if it is us who will take an action then there’s no need to create a big fuss.
Actually, the technology now is more advance to the point that they are helping their consumers
to extend messages that is really relevant and warning them to limit the things which are too
personal.
Knowledge indeed is a great defense and offense at the same time, you will never be
fooled if you know something and in return you can use that to protect yourself at any cost. If I
will be given a chance to spread awareness when it comes in using this precious tool, I will
definitely grab it. I will share everything that I know on my students and co-workers, I will use
this plat form to build protection and foundation on our school and students. I will help my co-
