You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is
New York (USA) – The Statue of Liberty
located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.

Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle
Saint Peter's Square is an open
urban space located in the
Vatican City, within the city of
Rome, and it precedes, like a
great peripheral hall, the Basilica
of Saint Peter, the great temple
of Catholicism. It was completely
designed by Gian Lorenzo
Bernini between 1656 and 1667.
In the image you can see the
work that is considered the
explosion of the great Baroque
theater of the time as a
systematization of the power of
the Catholic Church.
In the image you can see the
Sydney Opera House, which is
undoubtedly the quintessential
symbol of Australia. It is located
in the city of Sydney. The
Sydney Opera House is also one
of the most famous buildings of
the 20th century. It was
designed by the Danish architect
Jørn Utzon in 1957 and opened
in 1973. The building is unique in
all its angles, the roof is 67
meters high, it has 27,000 tons
of Swedish tiles, and more than
1,000,000 pieces. 4.5 million
visits a year.
Edinburgh Castle is an ancient
fortress built on a rock of
volcanic origin located in the city
center of Edinburgh. It has been
used for military purposes since
the 12th century, being intended
for civilian use only in very
recent times. It is located at the
top of Castle Rock Street, one of
the four streets that make up the
Royal Mile. The castle is open to
visitors and is managed by the
specialized agency Historic
Scotland. It is the most visited
paid tourist attraction in
 Scotland.
You can see in the image the
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building
in the world with a height of 828
meters. More than 12,000
people from 30 countries have
participated in the construction
of the building. It was previously
known as Burj Dubai.
The Burj Khalifa has two
viewpoints that offer surprising
views. On the 124th floor,
located at 442 meters high, you
will find what until now was the
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj only viewpoint of the Caliph
Khalifa Tower, without a doubt the best
point in Dubai to contemplate the
city.
