You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus
lugares representativos. Escriba un párrafo describiendo cada ciudad, el país al
que pertenece y el lugar mostrado. Use el vocabulario dentro del recuadro para

New York is a big city in the

United States (North
America). It takes thousand of
visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central Park,
the Metropolian museum and
Time’s Square. In the picture
you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is
93 meters tall. The statue is

located on Liberty Island in
the Hudson River.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera
House
The Plaza de San Pedro is one
of the most beautiful and largest
squares in the world. It is located
in the Vatican, at the foot of the
Basilica of San Pedro.
The most impressive of the
square, in addition to its size, are
the 284 columns and 88
pilasters that line the square in a
four-row portico. At the top of the
columns there are 140 statues of
saints made in 1670 by Bernini's
disciples.
The construction of the square
was carried out between 1656
and 1667 by Bernini, with the
support of Pope Alejandro VII.
The Opera House in Sydney,
considered one of the wonders
of the modern world, is a
magnificent building, which
stands as an icon of Australia in
one of the most beautiful bays in
the country. If you look at it
carefully you can see in its
architectural lines a boat sailing
at full power.
The Sydney Opera House has
four main auditoriums for Opera,
Dance, Concerts and Theater. It
carries out more than 2,400
annual events, so it is not only
an impressive building, but also
a reference for art.
 Edinburgh Castle. Located on a
volcanic hill in the center of the
city, the Castle is Edinburgh's
biggest tourist attraction. The
struggles against the Normans,
the invasions of the seventeenth
century and the battles against
the English are recreated in the
paintings of the salons.
From its summit beautiful views
of the entire city are
contemplated.

Edinburgh (Scotland) – Edinburgh Castle

The Burj Khalifa is the tallest
building in the world with a
height of 828 meters.
The skyscraper is notable for
having a large number of
residential floors, something
unusual so far, has two
viewpoints that offer amazing
views.
Next to the Burj Khalifa there is a
large artificial lake where the
Dubai Fountain is located, one of
the must-see attractions of the
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj city. Around the lake you will find
Khalifa bars and restaurants and, of
course, the famous Dubai Mall.
