Evidence: describing cities and places

New York is a big city in the


United States (North America). It
takes thousand of visitors every
year. The city has a population
of around 8 million people. There
is a lot to see and do in New
York. You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian museum
and Time’s Square. In the
picture you can see the Statue of
Liberty, a monumet built
between 1875 and 1986. It is 93
meters tall. The statue is located
on Liberty Island in the Hudson

Liberty
San Pedro square is one of the
most beautiful and largest
squares in the world. It is in the
Vatican, at the foot of St. Peter's
Basilica in Rome.

The dimensions of the plaza are


spectacular: 320 meters long
and 240 meters wide. In the
most important liturgies and
events, St. Peter's Square has
reached a hostel with more than
300,000 people.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square The square was constructed


between 1656 and 1667 by
Bernini, with the support of Pope
Alexander VII.

At the top of the columns, there


are 140 statues of saints made
in 1670 by Bernini's disciples.
In the center of the square, the
obelisk and the two fountains
stand out, one by Bernini (1675)
and the other by Maderno
(1614). The 25-meter-high
obelisk was brought to Rome
from Egypt in 1586.

The Sydney Opera House is a


fabulous construction located in
Sydney, Australia. Its
construction was inspired by
abstract art and it is a huge
building dedicated to the
realization of opera, theater,
piano, symphony and other
artistic works. It was inaugurated
on October 20, 1973 by Queen
Elizabeth II, and in this
ceremony spectacular fireworks
Sydney (Australia) – The Sydney Opera were launched while
House Beethoven's Ninth Symphony
was performed.
Edinburgh Castle is built on top
of a stunning 700 million year old
extinct volcano on Castle Rock
Hill. It is in Edinburg, Scotland.

It was built at the beginning of


the 12th century in memory of
Queen Margarita.

It is protected by cliffs and is


only accessible by a street at the
end of the famous Royal Mile.

It is the tallest building in the
world. It is 828 meters tall.
12,000 people from 30 countries
participated in its construction. It
was previously known as Burj
Dubai.

The Burj Khalifa is visible from


95 kilometers away.
The tower has 57 elevators. It
weighs 500,000 tons and it is
covered by 28,601 glass panels.
