You are going to see images of five cities and their landmarks. Write a
paragraph describing each city and country it belongs and the landmark shown.
Use the vocabulary from the box for the descriptions. The first one is done for
you as an example. / A continuación verá imágenes de cinco ciudades y sus

New York is a big city in the


United States (North
America). It takes thousand
of visitors every year. The city
has a population of around 8
million people. There is a lot
to see and do in New York.
You can visit the Central
Park, the Metropolian
museum and Time’s Square.
In the picture you can see the
Statue of Liberty, a monumet
built between 1875 and 1986.
It is 93 meters tall. The statue

this iconic square is located in an
urban space in the vatican city, it is
the precedent of the cathedral of
san pedro, temple of catholicism. It
was designed by Gian Lorenzo
Bernini between 1656 and 1667. It
is one of the busiest and most
beautiful places on the planet. It is
visited by people from all over the
world and it is most visited on
Sundays or holidays of the
Catholic calendar.

Rome (Italy) – Saint Peter’s Square


The Sydney Opera House, located
in the city of Sydney, New South
Wales, Australia, is one of the
most famous and distinctive
buildings of the 20th century.
Declared a World Heritage Site in
2007, it was designed by Danish
architect Jørn Utzon in 1957 and
inaugurated on October 20, 1973.
In the building plays, ballet, opera
or musical productions are
performed. It is home to the Opera
Australia company, the Sydney
Theater Company and the Sydney
Symphony Orchestra. It is
administered by the Opera House
Trust, a public body of the New
South Wales state government.

Edinburgh Castle is an ancient fortress
built on a volcanic rock located in the
center of the city of Edinburgh. It has
been used for military purposes since
the 12th century, being used for civil
uses only in very recent times. It is
located at the top of Castle Rock Street,
one of the four streets that make up the
Royal Mile. The castle is open to visitors
and is managed by the specialized
agency Historic Scotland. It is the most
visited paid tourist attraction in
Scotland.
Four of its sides are protected by steep
cliffs, and access to the castle is limited
to a steep street on the eastern side of
the castle. Once there was an artificial
lake in its northern area. This lake,
called Nor'Loch (north lake in Spanish)

Dubai is one of the seven emirates


that make up the United Arab
Emirates, whose capital is the city
of the same name. It is located on
the coast of the Persian Gulf, in the
Arabian desert.
Known as the jalifa tower is a
skyscraper located in Dubai. At
828 meters high, it is the tallest
structure on record in history. The
Burj Khalifa is the central part of a
development known as Downtown
Dubai, a 2 km² complex located
next to Sheikh Zayed Avenue,
which crosses the city of Dubai.
Construction began on January 6,
2004, with its inauguration official
on January 4, 2010. It is named
after the Sheikh and President of
the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahayan. The chief
drafting architect for the project is
Dubai (United Arab Emirates) – The Burj Adrian Smith.
