An Interactive Session on Marketing Opportunities in Government

Procurement Program for Women Entrepreneurs on 25th February 2019 at
PHD House, New Delhi. The interactive session was for Women
Entrepreneurs to benefit from the GeM portal/ schemes to market their
products and services to the Govt & Govt departments as well as PSUs as
there is a huge potential for women Entrepreneurs to enter in Govt
Procurement.

Government e-Marketplace (GeM- gem.gov.in) is a very bold step of the

Government with the aim to transform the way in which procurement of
goods and services is done by the Government Ministries and
Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and other apex autonomous
bodies of the Central Government. GeM is a completely paperless,
cashless and system driven e-market place that enables procurement of
common use goods and services with minimal human interface. In January
2019 GeM has launched Womaniya on GeM‟, an initiative to enable
women entrepreneurs and women self-help groups (WSHGs) to sell
handicrafts and handloom, accessories, jute and coir products, home
décor and office
furnishings directly to government ministries, departments and institutions,
has been launched by Government e Marketplace (GeM). Womaniya
initiative aligns with the government‟s initiatives for MSMEs, especially the
three percent reservation in government procurement from women
entrepreneurs.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Anurag Awasthy, Product
Manager, Center of Excellence for Indigenous and Inclusive Products,
Government e Marketplace (GeM), Mr. Anil Khaitan, Immediate Past
President, PHD Chamber, Dr. H. P. Kumar, Former CMD, NSIC and
