Background of the Study

Turon, also known as ‘lumpiang saging’, is a popular Filipino snack consisting mga banana wrapped in a deep-

fried spring roll wrapper, usually coated with caramelized sugar. Slices of jackfruit are the normally filling of this dessert.

It is one of the more common street foods in the Philippines, sold by many street vendors in both urban and rural areas.

It is often plainly served in a plastic off the pan and eaten anywhere. Turon is often sold alongside other banana-based

snack foods, such as banana cue and maruya.

The creation of Turon is often linked to the strong Chinese presence in the Philippines. Dishes such as pancit or

Chinese noodles were created by incorporating traditional Filipino foods with Chinese cooking techniques. The Turon

was likely developed as a combination of Chinese spring rolls and the Filipino’s fondness for bananas. Some Spanish,

Chinese, and Filipino restaurants here in Philippines serve Turon as a dessert.

Banana (Musa acuminate x balbisiana) the main ingredient of Turon: benefits our heart and nerves due to high

dose of potassium, increases the performance of kidneys and bones, acts as a mood enhancer, is one of the naturally

available vitamin B6 and can keep us “normal or regular”.

Therefore, the researchers came down to this information in order to create a kind of Turon that was easy to

made, nutritious, and affordable. Researchers has made their own version of Turon and called it “Betturon”.

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to make a new kind of Turon which is Betturon with different flavors.

Specifically, sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the purpose of creating a Betturon? How much is this? Is it nutritious? How to make it?

2. What makes this product different from the traditional Turon?

3. What are the business marketing strategies will the researchers do to promote their product?
Objectives

 Customers can make many choices by creating different flavors of Turon.

thinly sliced and “fanned” bananas in batter and deep frying them. They are then sprinkled with sugar.

Betturon- is a came from the two words “better” and “Turon” and when combined “The better type

of Turon”

Significance of Study

The result of making this product will help in many different ways:

Community/ People. The main ingredient of Betturon is banana which has many benefits;

Eating bananas as part of regular diet can reduce risk of death by strokes, bananas are high in b vitamins that

have been shows to improve nerve function, banana fruit also have a ability to reduce the risk of blood

pressure, eating this kind of fruit can reduce the risk of kidney cancer, bananas contain tryptophan, an amino

body’s hemoglobin function etc. And if the business is already profitable and has many stalls, it will need a lot

of staffs or employees to operate different stalls in different places that creates jobs for people.

Researchers. In doing this study, researchers can expand their knowledge about starting,

operating, and growing the business. It can also serve as their guide if they want to enter the business world.
Scope and Delimitation of study

-In this study we want to create a type of Turon that is affordable, nutritious, and delicious.

-We choose Turon because it is easy to make, consisting of few ingredients, and popular afternoon

snack in the Philippines.

How to Cook Betturon (Jackfruit flavor)

Start by preparing the filling. It is composed of a piece of Saba banana that is crushed, and a few slices of ripe

jackfruit. Dredge the banana in a small amount of sugar until completely coated. We use either brown or

white sugar. Arrange the banana on a lumpia wrapper and place the jackfruit slices on top of the banana.

Secure the filling by wrapping. Perform this step until all the bananas are completely consumed. The next step

is to fry the Betturon until golden brown. Wait at least 2 minutes to remove excess oil. Before we serve the

Betturon, put some toppings on the top of Turon based on the flavor (Chocolate, strawberry syrup, vanilla ice

cream, caramelized jackfruit, Shredded mangos etc.) in this jackfruit flavored Betturon we put caramelized

jackfruit on top of it and then serve.
